Charlie Kirk’s Assassination Exposes the Depth of America’s Moral Crisis

Are happy days here again? This issue of our print magazine, with a beautiful cover by resident cartoonist Yogi Love, will share lots of evidence to support that contention. Indeed, in so many ways, from inflation, to crime, to immigration, and on and on, there’s good news. And yet…

My introduction will be the fly in this joyful ointment. Senior Editor and my podcast co-host Scott McKay calls me Eeyore. We have two years of podcast conversations of me seeing the worst. I apologize to you, loyal viewers, but I have a bad feeling that I can’t shake. I had planned to write this when the theme of the magazine was chosen over a month ago. The events of recent weeks have confirmed my unease.

Stop Killing Cops

America has seen a trend of attacks on law enforcement.

When I was a prosecutor, people often asked me if my life was in danger, given that I publicly targeted murderers, drug cartels, and terrorists. “Sure, I am at some risk,” I typically responded. “But the danger to me is minuscule compared with the danger to any police officer pulling over a car on a lonely road at night.”

This summer and early fall, America has seen a disturbing trend of people targeting and killing cops. If left unabated, the effects could be devastating—to police and to the country.

Judge denies Kilmar Ábrego García’s bid for asylum in the US

An immigration judge in Baltimore has denied Kilmar Ábrego García’s bid for asylum on Thursday, but he has 30 days to appeal.

Ábrego’s case has drawn national attention since the 30-year-old was wrongfully deported by the Trump administration to El Salvador in March. The Salvadorian national has an American wife and children and has lived in Maryland for years, but he originally immigrated to the US illegally as a teenager.

Following widespread pressure, the Trump administration returned him to the US in June. Upon his return, however, he immediately faced criminal charges related to human smuggling, allegations that his lawyers have rejected.

Canada issues warning for citizens with gender-neutral passports travelling to U.S.

The Canadian government is warning citizens who list “X” as their gender on their passports could have problems entering the U.S.

In a change made earlier this week, the Department of Global Affairs added an advisory to its United States travel advice page for 2SLGBTQ+ Canadian passport holders.

“While the Government of Canada issues passports with an ‘X’ gender identifier, it cannot guarantee your entry or transit through other countries,” it wrote. “You might face entry restrictions in countries that do not recognize the ‘X’ gender identifier.”

Vast fraud of Somali migrants, starting with Ilhan Omar, finally being exposed

This week, federal officials made an astounding announcement: Nearly half of all immigrants in greater Minneapolis were found to have committed some form of immigration fraud.

The fraud, uncovered in a September sweep, came in all kinds — sham marriages, fake death certificates and “other bizarre schemes,” as US Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edley put it.

But the revelation was no great surprise to those of us who have followed the settlement of some 100,000 Somali immigrants in Minnesota over the past three decades.

WARMINGTON: You can bring mini axe to rally — as long as you are sacred firekeeper

Even if the public has an axe to grind with the decision, Toronto Police stand behind their call to return a hatchet to a protester they had in handcuffs.

“Officers determined the axe was ceremonial and not used as a weapon or to threaten anyone,” Toronto Police spokesperson Stephanie Miceli said. “There are no grounds to lay charges.”

I can’t wait for the ceremonial machetes.

UK terror suspect who killed 2 at Manchester synagogue ID’d as Jihad Al-Shamie

The knife-wielding terrorist accused of killing two people outside a UK synagogue on Thursday is believed to be Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, officials announced.

Al-Shamie allegedly carried out the carnage at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester, which was celebrating Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.

Foreign communists are funding and training violent leftist radicals in US

“The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution,” said the late David Horowitz, quoting a 1960s rebel. The Palestinian conflict, the climate, transgenderism, immigration, and abortion are all proximate causes for protests and now terrorism. But they are all also part of an amalgamated “omnicause” whose real purpose is to bring down the United States and the West.

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk and other recent tragedies that are rightly garnering worldwide attention, our leaders have finally woken up and are looking into who the perpetrators are and who organizes and finances them.

Diddy Denied Acquittal and New Trial as Prosecutors Seek 11 Year Sentence

NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors urged a New York federal judge Tuesday to send Sean “Diddy” Combs to prison for over 11 years following his conviction on prostitution-related charges, citing one of his accusers who said she lives in fear of the music mogul’s release from detention.

“His crimes of conviction are serious and have warranted sentences over ten years in multiple cases for defendants who, like Sean Combs, engaged in violence and put others in fear,” they wrote in a presentence submission requesting at least 11 years and three months in prison.

CHARLEBOIS: Milking the myth — why Ottawa can’t keep dairy ‘off the table’

For decades, Canada’s supply management system has acted as both shield and stabilizer for the country’s dairy sector. By regulating production, fixing quotas, and limiting imports through tariff rate quotas (TRQs), the model has provided farmers with stable incomes, preserved rural communities, and sustained a form of food sovereignty. But as the Globe and Mail recently reported, Ottawa is now considering regulatory changes that could allow more U.S. dairy products onto Canadian shelves — a signal that the system is under growing strain.

FBI Director Kash Patel Cuts Ties With ADL, Slams Comey’s ‘Love Letters’ to Group

FBI Director Kash Patel announced this week that the bureau is formally ending its partnership with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), distancing the agency from a relationship that began under former FBI Director James Comey.

“James Comey disgraced the FBI by writing ‘love letters’ to the ADL and embedding agents with an extreme group functioning like a terrorist organization and the disgraceful operation they ran spying on Americans. That was not law enforcement, it was activism dressed up as counterterrorism, and it put Americans in danger,” Patel told Fox News Digital.

“That era is finished. This FBI formally rejects Comey’s policies and any partnership with the ADL,” he added.

Defence procurement vs. defence production: What’s best for Canada?

As the Carney government tries to breathe life back into Canada’s military and its industrial base with a new federal agency, it’s being told it needs to make the distinction between defence procurement and defence production.

The contrast in language may be subtle, but from a public policy and political perspective it would be a radical shift in mindset for a country that has divested itself of many aspects of the arms industry and has been reluctant to embrace and promote those sectors that remain.

The distinction is critically important as the Liberal government prepares to unveil the long-promised defence procurement agency.

Inside the Antifa siege on ‘war zone’ Portland and the resistance to the National Guard cleaning it up

Violent Antifa criminals have laid siege to the ICE detention center in Portland, Oregon, for over 100 days.

Every night the encampment of wackos – some dressed as a unicorn or a chicken – blast loud music, engage in anti-government chants over loudspeakers and megaphones, and when they violently clash with law enforcement officers it reverberates around the neighborhood.

Since the protest started on June 2, neighbor Cloud Elvengrail has barely slept. Assaulted and bullied by the Antifa goons, she describes the area as a “war zone” and “terrifying.”
