The visa-restriction policy, announced Thursday, targets members of far-left terrorist groups and other aligned organizations who have supported or incited acts of terrorism or violence, participated in economic sabotage or supported violent and other criminal actions.
OTTAWA — The Carney government has sent a senior official from Canada’s embassy in Washington, to a Trump administration summit trying to rally allies behind a new U.S. campaign targeting left-wing groups it claims are a top terrorism threat.

Far-left Antifa radicals descended upon the annual conference of the anti-mass migration Alternative for Germany in Erfurt on Saturday, clashing with police and journalists.
While AfD delegates gathered at the Erfurt Exhibition Centre in the central German state of Thuringia to select party leadership, an estimated 20,000 leftist protesters demonstrated outside of the event, police told Die Welt.

German police are preparing for one of the largest security operations in Thuringia’s history ahead of the Alternative für Deutschland’s (AfD) federal party congress in Erfurt this weekend after an internal threat assessment warning of an elevated risk of violence.
The assessment, obtained by Apollo News, states that police expect most protesters to come from left-wing organisations, civil society groups, and trade unions.
When the right started forming militias back in the 1990s, following events like Ruby Ridge and Waco, the left got very upset about it. They demonized these militias and did everything they could to rip them apart, framing them not just as a threat to the nation, but every kind of bigot they could think of. It was enough to push many to reconsider joining such a group, even if none of them actually did anything except do some training in the woods somewhere.
And it’s definitely a part of why anti-gunners wanted to ban the AR-15 and similar rifles, particularly before the modern mass shooting epidemic.
On June 4, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced new economic sanctions on several Cuban organizations and officials, specifically citing the threat of communist “influence operations” on American national security. Among other effects, the sanctions prohibit “U.S. persons” from “the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any blocked person and the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.”
Arson is suspected as the cause of a large-scale power outage that hit the western German city of Reutlingen on Monday, according to a spokesman for grid operator Netze BW.

Progressive nonprofits are having a rough time lately. In April, the Department of Justice alleged that the Southern Poverty Law Center secretly paid leaders of the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Nations—not to dismantle these extremist groups, but, as prosecutors put it, to manufacture “the extremism it purports to oppose.” And a recent City Journal investigation by Ryan Thorpe and Christopher F. Rufo, based on a previous report from the Network Contagion Research Institute and their congressional testimony, revealed that the California branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has received more than $40 million in public funds, despite longstanding scrutiny over connections to Hamas-linked networks.
The April 21 indictment against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) doesn’t just threaten a major organ of the left’s lawfare machine; it also puts in jeopardy one of the corporate news media’s favorite sources of activist data.
For decades, but particularly since the first Trump administration, the SPLC has enjoyed a perverse symbiotic relationship with the left-wing press. Their absurd “hate group” designations provided the media with ammunition against their right-wing targets, and the media in turn held up the SPLC as the gold standard of analysis and objectivity.
Canadian media frequently cites the SPLC along with other left wing extremist hate groups that use the same rent seeking business model.
They profit by crafting smears-to-order against opponents of Liberal-Left governments.
The Department of National Defence (DND) says it does not centrally track Antifa involvement among members of the Canadian Armed Forces or its employees, saying there is no “common definition” of the movement.
In an April 13 response to an order paper question by Conservative MP Garnett Genuis, the DND said it does “in-depth screenings” to identify past records of extremism or hateful conduct but does not “centrally track involvement with Antifa in its human resources systems.”
