He called them “toilets” and the Burlington loner’s long-planned attacks on women were not simply twisted musings on an incel website.
Why no pic? I can’t find one anywhere.

The Alberta government says it has shut down five training schools and taken several other steps to crack down on unsafe practices and bad actors in the commercial trucking sector.
Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen said a series of investigations, inspections and audits over the past six months uncovered “fraudulent behaviour” in the industry, leading to these latest actions.
A problem in both Canada and America.
The guy who blew a stop sign in Canada and killed a bunch of kids on a hockey team was on a work visa from India and had barely any driving experience. It's even worse in the Canadian trucking industry. https://t.co/gwQ4Og1XAk pic.twitter.com/NBvkUldXF2

At least 355 people have been arrested in central London during protests in support of the proscribed group Palestine Action the Metropolitan Police has said.
Organisers Defend Our Juries said around 1,000 took part in demonstrations backing Palestine Action – a group which was proscribed by the government in July making it illegal to show any support or affiliation to them.
Demonstrations went ahead despite calls from ministers and police who called for protests to be postponed following Thursday’s deadly synagogue attack in Manchester.
UK pro-Palestinian protests went ahead Saturday despite a plea from Prime Minister Keir Starmer, two days after a deadly car-ramming and knife attack on a synagogue.

WASHINGTON — The US military killed four alleged “narco-terrorists” in the latest strike on a boat deemed to be trafficking drugs off the coast of Venezuela, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced Friday.
The operation targeted a “vessel affiliated with designated terrorist organizations,” killing four men who were “transporting substantial amounts of narcotics headed to America to poison our people,” Hegseth wrote on X.

The federal government issued more than $6.8 million in penalties to employers violating the rules of the temporary foreign worker program from January to September 2025, already surpassing the total from 2024’s record-setting year of fines, according to data from Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada.
That is about a 65 per cent increase from the $4.1 million in penalties handed out last year.
From January to the end of September this year, Ottawa levied 214 fines against non-compliant companies, averaging $31,971 per decision, according to the Star’s analysis of the data. That’s up from 155 fines last year, which averaged $26,776 — nearly double the 2023 average of $13,860.

The fines are small and treated as the cost of doing business. They are not a deterrent.
OpenAI’s artificial intelligence-generated video maker called “Sora 2” has launched and it is throwing Hollywood and the entertainment industry into full-blown panic with “nightmare” predictions of the looming end of the showbiz industry as we know it.
My favorite new trend in the Sora app is putting Pikachu in every movie.

‘Offensive’ phrase still used for tank tops on Amazon, even though it violates Canada’s advertising code
Several ads for men’s tank tops remain on Amazon’s Canadian website, despite an Ad Standards Council ruling that the phrase used to describe them — “wife beater” — is offensive, trivializes domestic violence and violates Canada’s advertising code.
The slang term refers to a certain style of tight-fitting tank tops introduced in the 1930s as a men’s undershirt. The shirt entered into popular culture in 1951, when Marlon Brando wore one while playing the hard-edged, violent Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Last year, as Nato prepared to mark its 75th anniversary, its defence college in Rome published an anthology of science fiction stories imagining what the alliance might look like in 2099, another three quarters of a century in the future. One of the authors envisaged a Chinese artificial superintelligence going rogue and killing 450 million people before it was imprisoned on the Moon. Another imagined a utopia in which Nato would dedicate its energies to nature conservation and schlep cadets across the North Pole in “Thunberg-class” transport ships.

Indigenous Peoples grapple with claims downplaying the history of residential schools
OTTAWA – As Indigenous Peoples marked the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this week, they also had to confront a persistent problem: public figures claiming the history of residential schools has been exaggerated or falsified.
It’s a problem community leaders say poses a real challenge to reconciliation efforts across the country.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission, mandated out of a legal settlement between the federal government and survivors of residential schools, concluded the goal of the schools was to erase Indigenous cultures.

People in Gaza have reacted with shock after US President Donald Trump appeared to welcome Hamas’s response to his peace plan for the territory.
Hundreds of Palestinians flooded my social media accounts and messaging apps with questions like: “Has the war ended?” and “Is this a dream or reality?”
The pace of developments overnight has left many struggling to grasp what comes next.
The movement’s carefully crafted statement – thought to have been drafted with the help of mediators – stopped short of outright rejection and instead offered a qualified “yes”

That’s Prime Minister Mark Carney’s present plan in dealing with his predecessor’s electric vehicle mandate, which would have otherwise kicked in starting in January of next year.
The California man who attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh following the leak of an opinion overturning Roe v. Wade was sentenced to eight years and one month in federal prison Friday, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
The sentence imposed upon Nicholas Roske — who now identifies as a trans woman named “Sophie” — by Biden-appointed federal judge Deborah Boardman, amounted to a defeat for federal prosecutors, who had requested that Roske be sentenced to 30 years to life. Roske’s defense team had asked for an eight-year sentence and 25 years of supervised release.

Despite years of Beijing’s efforts to expand its influence in Canada, the country has yet to fully recognize or counter the threat the communist regime poses to its future, according to a former RCMP officer.
Garry Clement, former national director for the RCMP’s Proceeds of Crime program, has been investigating transnational crime for decades. He describes the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as the “biggest transnational organized crime group in the world,” and says that despite growing evidence of its operatives, many in positions of authority in Canada appear unwilling to acknowledge the threat or take action.
