Tech giant Amazon released a set of James Bond posters on its Prime Video platform showing the fictional spy without guns, sparking criticism from fans and media outlets over the artwork’s woke approach.
The reasoning behind the gun-free edits has not been publicly explained, though similar changes have occurred in promotional material for other franchises, including Disney’s Han Solo (part of Star Wars).
The posters had depicted actors such as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig without their signature firearms.

National Guard descends on Chicago as two top Trump officials fly in
National Guard troops have begun arriving in Chicago after President Trump compared Democrats to “insurrectionists” and promised the deployment of soldiers from Texas would “straighten out” crime in the city.
About half of the 200 troops expected to be deployed from the Texas National Guard had landed in Chicago on Monday night with the remainder expected to arrive by the end of Tuesday evening.

Immigrant nurses have “mixed” results in the Canadian workforce with more than 60 percent finding employment in their field and roughly a quarter working in lower-skilled occupations or unemployed, a recent government report says.
Approximately 63 percent of immigrants who intended to work as nurses found jobs in nursing occupations in 2021, while 2 percent found jobs in other skilled health occupations, and 13 percent worked in lower-skilled health occupations, such as nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates, a joint study conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Statistics Canada indicates.

Royal Mail worker claimed being called a ‘nutter’ was racist
A Royal Mail worker has sued for racial harassment after a colleague called her a “nutter”.
Corleen Maynard, who is black, claimed she was “the victim of a cabal” as her colleagues would mutter insults under their breath.
An employment tribunal heard that Ms Maynard said she was working in a team of mostly Pakistani people, which made her feel isolated.

On January 6, Parliament’s Finance Committee published a long list of recommendations, including 430: “Amend the Income Tax Act to provide a definition of a charity which would remove the privileged status of ‘advancement of religion’ as a charitable purpose.”
