Man who threw sandwich at US federal agent found not guilty of assault

A former Department of Justice employee who threw a sandwich at a federal agent during Donald Trump’s law enforcement surge in Washington DC was found not guilty of assault by a DC jury on Thursday in the latest legal rebuke of the federal intervention.

Sean Charles Dunn, a former justice department paralegal, became a symbol of the resistance to Trump’s occupation in the nation’s capital when video of him, clad in a pink polo shirt and shorts, throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent, wearing a bulletproof vest, went viral.

Charles I of Austria, Crown Prince Franz Joseph Otto and Empress Zita

At the height of the Battle of Britain, when the UK government needed a secret location to store 186,332 gold bars, it turned to Canada.

Shipped across the Atlantic and stored beneath a hastily constructed vault in Montreal, Operation Fish became known both for the vast amounts of gold involved – and the immense secrecy that followed.

Germany cracks down on ‘TikTok Islamism’

Muslim Aktiv Jihadists Germany

The German Interior Ministry on Wednesday banned the group “Muslim Interaktiv,” which calls for a worldwide caliphate and rejects the democratic order enshrined in Germany’s constitution, the Basic Law.

A ministry press release described the association “Muslim Interaktiv” as “opposed to the constitutional order and the idea of international understanding,” adding: “The association will be dissolved. The assets of Muslim Interaktiv will be confiscated.”

The association views the Muslim community in Germany as a minority that is discriminated against and ostracized from society. Founded in 2020, authorities believe the group is affiliated with the Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT) organization, which was banned in 2003 after promoting violence and the killing of Jewish people.

The Republican Party Deserves Their Bad Election Night

Brutal election night for Republicans, though the ugliness mostly happened in blue states and probably has limited meaning over the long term. A long series of “however” paragraphs follow.

Abigail Spanberger is a harbinger, East Coast Katie Hobbs: bland, empty, relentlessly platitudinous, tactically cowardly. The fact that she won comfortably tells you what’s going to win comfortably. Listen if you must to her NPR interview this morning, where she says literally nothing for seven minutes.
