Canada’s Gun ‘Emergency’ Not So Urgent After All

While there are profound similarities between Canada and the United States, we would do well to remember that those cultural similarities simply hide the profound differences. And, of course, there are governmental differences as well.

For example, they don’t have a Second Amendment. There is nothing there to limit the government and preserve the right to keep and bear arms.

More than that, though, in the wake of Nova Scotia, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared that he needed to unilaterally do something about guns. It was an emergency.

An op-ed at the Canadian publication The Globe and Mail, however, is questioning that now.

It took only a few hours, however for the horror to fade — long before Israel had even begun to respond. Demonstrations against Israel, and in support of the terrorist group, Hamas — sometimes “cleaned up” to be labeled “pro-Palestinian” — exploded just hours later on October 8, before hundreds of charred bodies had been removed from their homes. These well-planned and well-funded professional demonstrations, complete with instant Palestinian flags and, later, instant identical tents — rapidly metastasized throughout North America and Europe.

U.S. offers Israel intelligence, supplies in effort to avoid Rafah invasion

The Biden administration, working urgently to stave off a full-scale Israeli invasion of Rafah, is offering Israel valuable assistance if it holds back, including sensitive intelligence to help the Israeli military pinpoint the location of Hamas leaders and find the group’s hidden tunnels, according to four people familiar with the U.S. offers.

I don’t think this will endear Biden to the college crowd.

Schools in One Virginia County to Reinstate Confederate Names

After a meeting that lasted for hours, the Shenandoah County school board voted early Friday morning to restore the names of three Confederate officers to schools in the district.

With the vote, the district appears to be the first in the country to return Confederate names to schools that had removed them after the summer of 2020, according to researchers at the Montgomery, Ala.-based Equal Justice Initiative.

The vote rolled back a decision made four years ago, when the killing of George Floyd prompted nationwide demands for a racial reckoning. At a virtual meeting in July 2020, the summer of pandemic and protests, the board voted 5-1 to drop the names of two schools — Ashby-Lee Elementary and Stonewall Jackson High — that it deemed incompatible with a recently passed resolution condemning racism. The schools were renamed the next year as Honey Run and Mountain View.

Boy Scouts Destroyed Itself By Accepting Girls

Back in the old days Scouts could be found learning to kill Japs and Nazis.

Its main attraction had been that it was a place for boys to do activities geared toward boys alongside other boys.

The Boy Scouts of America announced Tuesday that it will be rolling out a new name: Scouting America. The change was made in the name of making girls feel included. “This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting,” said the organization’s CEO in announcing the change. “We are an organization for all. It’s time our name reflects that,” he said.

Back in 2019, the Boy Scouts announced that it would accept girls into its programs and would change the name of its flagship program to Scouts BSA to reflect that change. Ever since, the organization has been in total freefall.

Americans from liberal west coast states are fleeing in greater numbers to a neighboring red state to escape political riots, homelessness and crime.

Idaho appears to be where disaffected residents of California, Oregon and Washington are now flocking to, with the state’s population surging by 12 per cent in just five years.
