WASHINGTON — The FBI opened an investigation into whether President Trump was “wittingly or unwittingly” acting as a Russian agent when he fired then-Director James Comey in 2017, according to bombshell documents released by the White House Wednesday.

The probe, called “Oxford Comma,” grew out of Crossfire Hurricane, the bureau’s probe into whether Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with the Kremlin to get the 45th president elected.

“Based on the facts and circumstances provided to date, the FBI believes that opening this investigation is the least intrusive method to address the serious national security risk posed by the activities alleged,” one of the declassified bureau memos shows.

When a federal grand jury indicted former FBI Director James Comey last week, the story that dominated headlines was the infamous Instagram post — specifically, the image of seashells arranged to spell out “86 47,” which prosecutors say a reasonable person familiar with the circumstances would interpret as a serious expression of intent to harm President Donald Trump.

Once upon a time, there was a societal pact in this country that, when a depraved lunatic committed an atrocity, no one would breathe a word of his motives, speech, or writings. When Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold kicked off the school shooting craze at Columbine High School in 1999, we didn’t speak of what they thought they were accomplishing. Their so-called basement tapes were never publicly released, and authorities destroyed them in 2011. “Law enforcement officials have always regarded the tapes as a particularly infectious form of toxic waste, a primer in mass murder that could inspire more violence and must never be released,” reported the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition.

It all began on September 11. Not September 11, 2001, although a word about that day would not be out of place in this connection. Only days after the attack on New York and Washington, a fool of a president told the American people that Islam is a religion of peace – a perverse formulation that no one on earth had ever encountered before. And this whitewash was reinforced by his successor in the Oval Office, a man who, not foolish but wily, had been fathered by a Kenyan Muslim and grown up in Islamic Indonesia, and hence believed, as Drew Thomas Allen writes in Clinton Hoax, Obama Coup: The Declassified Story of the Trump-Russia Delusion – a spectacular account based on “newly declassified intelligence, memos, and testimonies” – that Islam is “a peaceful religion to be revered.”

After seven long years, key documents surrounding the Ukraine impeachment saga have finally been released by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, following Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s declassification. They include previously unreleased interview transcripts with the Inspector General as well as related materials. They tell a story many of us suspected at the time, but which now appears even more disturbing and more elaborate than originally understood.

The newly released documents show a coordinated effort to frame President Trump over a phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky. A manufactured narrative was elevated and then used by Congress in an attempt to overturn the outcome of an election and, effectively, shape the next one by pursuing impeachment over a routine diplomatic exchange.
