National Security Strategy warnings are motivated by desire to preserve Christian civilisation

One particular passage in America’s National Security Strategy, published last week, is causing meltdown in Britain and Europe and on the American left. Economic decline in Europe, said the NSS, is being eclipsed by “civilisational erasure”.

Some European countries are on course to become majority non-European. The EU and other transnational bodies are undermining political liberty and censoring free speech. Birth rates are cratering and national identities and self-confidence are being lost.

“Should present trends continue,” the NSS authors wrote, “the continent will be unrecognisable in 20 years or less. As such, it is far from obvious whether certain European countries will have economies and militaries strong enough to remain reliable allies.”

Florida governor declares CAIR a Muslim terrorist organization

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday designated one of the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy groups in the U.S. a “foreign terrorist organization,” following a similar step by Texas last month.

The directive against the Council on American-Islamic Relations comes in an executive order DeSantis posted on the social media site X. It also gives the same label to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Neither CAIR nor the Muslim Brotherhood is designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

Somalians could have assimilated into U.S. culture by now, but American taxpayers have been roped into funding programs that coddle Somalians’ Third-World culture and disincentivize their assimilation.

Margaret Atwood has said the plot of her book The Handmaid’s Tale, which tells a story of an authoritarian regime under which women are forced to reproduce, has become “more and more plausible” in recent years.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Atwood said she believed the plot was “bonkers” when she first developed the concept for the novel because the US was the “democratic ideal” at the time.

“It was the land of freedom … and people in Europe just didn’t believe that it could ever go like that,” she said.

“I’ve always been somebody who has never believed it can’t happen here. It can happen anywhere, given the circumstances.”

Without much fanfare, the U.S. government has launched what could be a seismic shift in American foreign policy with its new National Security Strategy. And for Canada, the impact of the NSS could be profound.

We already know Donald Trump’s approach to relations with Canada has complicated our economic and security environment. But the NSS tries make coherent a foreign policy that, so far, has appeared to centre on the changing whims of the President – a vision that is inherently hostile to Canada and other allies in alarming ways.

I am beginning to wonder just who exactly feels threatened.

But Mr. Biden was now president-elect, and his positions threatened to drastically increase border crossings, experts advising his transition team warned in a Zoom briefing in the final weeks of 2020, according to people with direct knowledge of that briefing. That jump, they said, could provoke a political crisis.

“Chaos” was the word the advisers had used in a memo during the campaign.

Donald Trump’s latest anti-immigration policies may drive migrants to Canada. But are they welcome here?

Since late last month, Toronto resident Hazat Wahriz has been approached by Afghan friends and acquaintances in the U.S. desperately asking about refuge in Canada.

With Washington pausing and reviewing the entire asylum system and immigration processing of applicants from certain countries including Afghanistan, he said his compatriots south of the border are fearful of losing their already precarious status and being deported to the embrace of the Taliban.

No nation needs “more Islam”.

More Canadians, including children, detained in U.S. for immigration violations, new data show

A sweeping immigration crackdown in the United States is increasingly ensnaring Canadians who don’t have criminal records – including at least six children – new U.S. government data show.

An estimated 207 Canadians have now been held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody at some point since January, when President Donald Trump took office. The total number of Canadians held in 2024 was 130.

Chicagoans throw snowballs at ICE agents as street turns into chaotic tear-gas blizzard

Rowdy Chicago residents were seen throwing snowballs at federal ICE agents before the freezing streets were filled with clouds of tear gas.

The chaotic scene took place on Saturday in Elgin, Illinois, about 50 minutes outside of Chicago, as a massive crowd of anti-ICE protestors took to the streets to try and fight back against President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown.

Federal agents descended on the Chicago area as part of Operation Midway Blitz in early September, and in recent weeks they have been focusing on the Windy City’s suburbs.

Relations between the United States and the European Union appear somewhat fraught after two Friday announcements triggered outrage on both sides of the Atlantic.

President Trump has had enough. A majority of Americans have had enough of Ilhan Omar’s ingratitude.

So last week, Trump minced no words. He came straight out and called her “garbage,” and then called “her friends” also garbage.

No doubt he was referring to her fellow Somalis out there in Minneapolis who number at around 100,000, and do nothing “but complain,” according to Trump.

‘The days of the United States propping up the entire world order like Atlas are over,’ the president’s new Security Strategy says.

Europe should have the soldiers and equipment to defend itself two years from now, by the end of 2027. That is the gist of President Trump’s Security Strategy, released yesterday.

“The days of the United States propping up the entire world order like Atlas are over,” reads the strategy document that sets the parameters for the second Trump term. Earlier this year, in face of Trump Administration impatience with Europe, the European Union set a target of making the continent ready to defend itself by 2030. With major shortfalls in air defense, cyber warfare, intelligence and drones, many analysts warned  the goal was over ambitious.
