Beran Aliyi, 21, an Austrian-Macedonian dual national with Albanian roots, will stand trial at Wiener Neustadt state court beginning on Tuesday charged with joining a terrorist organisation, preparing explosives and illegally attempting to procure firearms. If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

A Syrian man has been placed in pre-trial detention in Paris on suspicion of complicity in crimes against humanity linked to the regime of Bashar al-Assad, French prosecutors said.
The 34-year-old, who had been living in France for several years, is accused of involvement in abuses committed between March 2011 and December 2015 during the early phase of the Syrian civil war. Muslims and separatists launch coordinated attacks across Mali
Islamic militants and separatists attacked several locations in Mali’s capital and other cities on Saturday in one of the largest coordinated attacks in the country in recent years.
The al-Qaida-linked militant group JNIM claimed responsibility for the attacks on Bamako’s international airport and four other cities in central and northern Mali on its website, Az-Zallaqa. It said the attacks were carried out jointly with the Azawad Liberation Front, a Tuareg-led separatist group.
Mali has previously faced insurgencies fought by affiliates of al-Qaida and the Islamic State group, as well as a separatist rebellion in the north.

York Regional Police are investigating a suspected hate crime that took place in Vaughan on Saturday.
