Justice Renu Mandhane is one of Ontario’s foremost judicial activists, so it should surprise no one that she’ll stoop to using racism as a basis to let Black men off the hook for possessing illegal guns.
That’s what happened at the end of March in the case of Robert Cameron, who had been pulled over and detained for having outstanding drug charges and a suspended license, and whose car, in the process, was discovered to be illegally housing an unlicensed firearm.

A Peel Regional Police officer engaged in the racial profiling of a Black motorist in an example of a “systemic” problem within the service, a judge has ruled.
The case, which resulted in the unravelling of a firearms prosecution, adds to a list of similar incidents that demonstrate a “systemic and intractable problem” within the police service, Superior Court Justice Renu Mandhane said in a sharply worded ruling that excluded a rifle discovered in an unlawful search of a Jeep driven by a Black man.
Const. Anand Gandhi stopped the Jeep in Brampton on a Sunday afternoon in October 2023 after an automated licence plate reader on his cruiser detected that the owner of the Jeep was facing drug charges in Toronto and was under a licence suspension for medical and administrative reasons.
This might be one of the most outrageous judicial outcomes in recent memory, and it sets a dangerous precedent. In a case that should’ve been open and shut, we watched common sense get overruled by ideology.

The reaction of the American left and its adjacent black political class to the arrival of 59 white refugees fleeing de facto genocide in South Africa, combined with ever-accelerating racist rhetoric and demands from America’s black population has further exposed the depth of anti-white racism in the United States and accelerated race fatigue among the vast majority of the American population.
Over the past nine years, Canadian institutions — egged on by activist groups and enabled by government — have embraced a form of social engineering that’s done real damage to our country. We were told it would make society more inclusive. In reality, it’s divided Canadians along lines of race, identity, politics, and belief. It’s undermined trust in our institutions, punished dissent, and created a culture where some voices are valued more than others.
The progressive ideal is largely to blame for the monstrous creation that is ghetto culture. The idea that racial narcissism among blacks should not only be tolerated but celebrated has led to a surge in open animosity for societal rules and standards within the US. Far more than any other group, the black community makes up the largest share of physical crime according to their percentage of the population. This includes robbery, aggravated assault, and homicides.
For example, black Americans make up only 13% of the population but commit around 52% of all homicides according to FBI statistics. The recent case of Karmelo Anthony comes to mind, a black teen who admitted to stabbing a white teen and killing him because the white teen allegedly “pushed him” (which he argues was a threat that made deadly force justifiable).

Immigrants and visible minorities have negative views of other groups in Canada at similar, and sometimes higher, rates as the general Canadian population, a new survey has found.
The poll by Leger for the Association for Canadian Studies challenges the conventional view that prejudice in Canada follows a simple “majority vs. minority” pattern, revealing that negative sentiment is more widespread and complex. The survey, which was conducted ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21, suggests that prejudice exists across multiple demographic groups and varies by factors such as age, language and immigration status.
But we were told only white people can be racist!

Both the UK and Canada have now codified Orwellian “equity” policies that dismantle the principle of equal justice under the law. These policies ensure that racial, cultural, and religious minorities receive preferential treatment in sentencing—while White males are explicitly excluded from such leniency.

LILLEY: City Council adding unelected member based on race usurps democracy
The City of Toronto is looking to add a new councillor based entirely on race, and they may not even be elected.
An item added to the council agenda on Thursday morning looks to ask for “the creation of an Indigenous member of council.”
A fight is brewing in England over new sentencing guidelines that require judges to consider a criminal’s ethnicity and faith before deciding whether to sentence them to jail. The guidelines, critics say, could lead to harsh punishments for Christians and white men, while women and ethnic minorities receive more leniency.
The fight began when the independent Sentencing Council for England and Wales released new guidelines this week ostensibly designed to counteract potential biases during the sentencing period. Under the new guidelines, set to take effect on April 1, it “will normally be considered necessary” for judges to obtain pre-sentencing reports for offenders to help determine their sentencing when the individual is from an ethnic, cultural, or faith minority.
Nothing undermines a society faster than the imposition of two tiered justice.

Ford vows to lower alcohol prices after pandering at Sikh temple
Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford has been busy attempting to appeal to all demographics ahead of Thursday’s election, from his go-to cheap alcohol campaign to worshiping at a Sikh temple.
Premier Ford on January 28 called a snap election, stating at the time he believed he would gain an even stronger mandate to square off with President Donald Trump in an imminent trade war.
Niwaas Long-Term Care, a not-for-profit organization, describes itself as “the first Sikh-Punjabi long-term care home in Ontario”. Its aim is to build a facility in Brampton that provides Sikh and Punjabi elders “with the medical care and support they need, in an environment that is familiar – with our food, our language, our culture and heritage”.

A Hindu mob marched through the Muslim part of town chanting ‘Death to Pakistan’.[xii]
What this reflects above all is the considerable irrelevance of Britishness as an aspect of the pre-political loyalty of significant fraction of two of the largest minorities in Britain. Who wants to fight whom and over what? The answer in this case to this good strategic question has very little to do with the nominal nationality of the people who have observably already begun to fight.
As tiny homes arrive in Hamilton, councillors ask why city bought made-in-China units for $35K each
When City of Hamilton staff agreed to buy 40 tiny homes from a Brantford, Ont., company for a new outdoor shelter site last fall, they thought they were supporting a local, Indigenous-owned business that was one of the few capable of delivering on a short timeline.
What they didn’t know was MicroShelters was a new corporation that would go through an American company to order the tiny homes from China, staff said at a general issues committee meeting Wednesday.
“It was a very quick turnaround” to meet deadlines on the project, said Danielle Blake, the city’s manager of housing-focused street outreach.
Earlier this month an Ontario Liberal fundraiser, leader Bonnie Crombie charted out a plan to become more centrist and create distance between her party and their federal counterparts, who are struggling in the polls.
In a speech prepared for delivery at the Metro Convention Centre, Crombie said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is “wrong” on the carbon tax.
As part of her speech, she made another remark that evening that later caught my ear and is garnering some traction on social media.
She asserted that if the results of the U.S. election teach us anything, it’s that “identity politics is dead and buried.”
It is odd to find myself in agreement with a Star editor but I believe Trudeau has poisoned the well in Canada with mass immigration from incompatible cultures.
Identity politics are sadly here to stay.
