Miami-Dade school board rejects plan to make October LGBTQ History month

The Miami-Dade school board overwhelming decided against recognizing October as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer History month, which included a measure to teach 12th-graders about two supreme court cases affecting the LGBTQ community.

Parents, teachers and students spoke for more than three hours on Wednesday, with one group citing indoctrination of students and the other speaking about how Nazis ostracized gays and lesbians with a pink triangle. The board then voted 8-1 against the measure, which was proffered by board member Lucia Baez Geller.

It’s time for a fightback against rainbow authoritarianism.

Imagine there was a political movement so powerful and so intolerant that you might be visited by the cops for making fun of it. A movement so dominant that desecrating its symbols came to be treated as a kind of blasphemy. A movement so fawned over by the elites that any town or village that refused to bow down to it – to wave its flag and shout its slogans – risked being written off as unsafe, and essentially as unclean. A movement so embedded in the ruling class that every wing of the establishment, from the political set to the military to the financial elite, was duty bound to display its insignia.

Funding for community groups a central plank of Canada’s first ever LGBTQ2S+ ‘action plan’

The federal government says it will prioritize direct funding for community groups under Canada’s first ever federal LGBTQ2S+ “action plan,” stating that they are the best-placed organizations to identify and deliver the support needed to address “persisting inequities” and improve the wellbeing of LGBTQ2S+ individuals in this country.

Through the plan, the government is also pledging to study emerging criminal justice issues such as HIV non-disclosure; adopt the usage of the “more inclusive” 2SLGBTQI+ acronym; and launch an awareness campaign aimed at combatting discrimination.

Tell me an election isn’t in the wind. This should be fun as the TERF wars heat up so there’s that.

I hope Justin appoints Laith Marouf as Minister For Gays.

Drag Queens and R-Rated Features: The Latest Offerings From Disney+

An upcoming series on Disney+ is set to feature a drag queen in a starring role. Shea Couleé, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, will be appearing in a currently unspecified role in the Marvel superhero series Ironheart. The series focuses on the adventures of Riri Williams, a 15-year-old black female genius inventor who creates her own Iron Man–esque suit of armor. While Couleé’s role remains unclear, it appears as though the actor will be a “series regular.” Couleé was previously the inspiration for a drag queen character in the Marvel Iceman comics.

Montreal Pride parade cancelled due to lack of volunteers

The Montreal Pride parade on Sunday has been cancelled.

Organizers confirmed that due to a lack of volunteers, security could not be guaranteed.

Simon Gamache, executive director of Pride Montreal, confirmed the parade was cancelled for security reasons to The Canadian Press on Sunday morning.

It’s a cancellation “for security reasons, we have a lack of resources at the moment,” Gamache said.

Upset over LGBTQ books, a Michigan town defunds its library in tax vote

What started as a fight over an LGBTQ-themed graphic novel may end with the closure of a west Michigan public library.

Voters in Jamestown Township, a politically conservative community in Ottawa County, rejected renewal Tuesday of a millage that would support the Patmos Library. That vote guts the library’s operating budget in 2023 — 84 percent of the library’s $245,000 budget comes from property taxes collected through a millage.

Without a millage, the library is likely to run out of money sometime late next year, said Larry Walton, library board president.

Florida school district doubles down on offering porn in schools

In March, I began documenting schools across the country carrying the pornographic book, Gender Queer. The book details sexually explicit acts (e.g., oral sex) and is becoming increasingly accessible to school children. I took a screenshot of the book’s availability at a school district in Florida, Hillsborough County School District (HCSD), and saved it with the others.

This week, I decided to go back and review the schools that previously offered the book to see if it was still available, as Gender Queer has faced intense scrutiny for its provocative content. HCSD, which had Gender Queer available in March, suddenly appeared to have removed the book, with the website saying the availability was “unknown.” Another page said it that was “unavailable.”

Seeing this I thought, “Wow… maybe this district isn’t totally rotten to the core and quietly removed the book.” I hadn’t seen any media coverage about HCSD, which is the 7th largest school district in the country, removing the book. I decided to reach out to HCSD’s library team via email to get some information on the new status.

The response was quick and the HCSD Director of Public Relations, Erin Maloney, explained that Gender Queer “has not been removed” and it was simply a technical error.

And the Bank of England, the Armed Forces and Scotland Yard remain signed up to Stonewall’s diversity champions scheme.

An employment tribunal ruled last week that barrister Allison Bailey had been discriminated against by Garden Court Chambers over her ‘gender-critical’ beliefs that no one can change biological sex.

This marks an encouraging turn of events in Britain. Stonewall has been knocked down, they are the sort of extremists Justin Trudeau sucks up to.
