I don’t know what’s worse, junk science or junk history. There is unending propaganda about an Islamic Golden Age of the past that today’s Islamists want to recreate. Much the same as a century ago, fables about an “Aryan super-race” long before Western Christianity motivated a lethal totalitarianism. Neither is true, of course, and obscures the amazing story of how Western Civilization got us to where we are.
Jan. 3, 2027 will be a historic day. Barring some unforeseeable circumstance, when the fateful day comes around, Hisham “Adam” Hamawy will become the first member of the United States House of Representatives to have worked for a group linked to al-Qaeda, and to have served as a defense witness for a jihad terror leader. The way the Democrat Party is going, he likely won’t be the last. And so America must face the reality: the enemies are well inside the gates, and inside the corridors of power as well. Let’s just get into this, quickly, before something else horrible happens across the pond and this column goes out of date.
1. The Henry Nowak Case
It all happened in December of last year, and it’s taken seven months for this to finally come to a head with the release of the bodycam video of Henry Nowak, 18, a white British teenager who was stabbed to death by a Sikh wielding a ceremonial knife, bleeding out while in handcuffs, and telling police he couldn’t breathe before passing out.

This week, while spring cleaning, I opened a drawer and found an old copy of the satirical French magazine, Charlie Hebdo.
Not an ordinary issue, but the edition published one week after the magazine was targeted by a violent terrorist attack, in which 12 people were murdered and 11 others were injured. The cover defiantly showed a tearful Muhammad holding a sign reading “Je suis Charlie” (I am Charlie).
A man of sturdy temperament, silver tongue, and swarthy countenance, Richard Francis Burton—born in Torquay in 1821—was better equipped than most Englishmen for undercover travel in Arabia. Laid low for a time in Karachi in 1848 by trouble with his eyesight, Burton began shaping a plan for a feat never yet achieved: to enter Mecca not merely as a European infidel but as a pilgrim indistinguishable from the rest.
Against the perils of the journey, and the risk of execution if unmasked, Burton could set his talent for disguise and his gift for languages. An Arabist since his Oxford days, he now spoke Hindustani, Gujarati, Marathi, Persian, Sindhi, and more. He was also drawn to Islam and eager to study it more deeply. “The more he thought of it,” writes his biographer, Mary S. Lovell, “the more the notion took shape as a credible project.”
Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw has laid down the law to anybody thinking about disrupting Sunday’s Walk with Israel.
