OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is formally requesting that Prime Minister Mark Carney recall Parliament to scrutinize his decisions to end trade talks with the U.S. and retaliate with dollar-for-dollar tariffs.
Poilievre made his request in a letter sent to Carney on Sunday evening, saying “we must put the national interest first.”
“Canadians elect Parliament to defend their interests and decide the hard questions. Those questions can no longer wait. The Official Opposition has a duty to ask questions and hold the government to account. That is why I write to ask you to reconvene Parliament without delay.”
