Canadians are being asked to accept a quiet but profound transformation in the relationship between citizen and state. Under the banners of cyber security, fighting crime, and protecting children from social media harms, Ottawa is assembling new legal powers that expand government reach into private communications, financial records, location data, and online identities.

German police are hunting a member of the ‘Islamist scene’ after a van was driven into a crowd of people at a Pride parade in Berlin, killing at least one person.
The ‘brutal attack’ happened on Saturday evening just hours after the city’s annual Christopher Street Day (CSD) pride event began, with thousands in attendance for the celebration.
Police said a white van charged through the city’s central Tiergarten Park, near the Brandenburg Gate. Witnesses said several people were hit before the van crashed into a tree and the driver fled on foot.

Donald Trump’s ‘slave labour’ tariff is a revamped ‘Liberation Day’ that Canada largely avoids, experts say
Canada is mostly unaffected by a new U.S. tariff ostensibly targeting goods made with slave labour, business leaders, lawyers and economists say.
Late Thursday, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced that dozens of countries, including Canada, are getting hit with a new tariff because they either don’t have any system to bar goods with slave labour, or aren’t applying anti-slave labour rules effectively.
Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom are among the countries getting hit with a 10 per cent tariff, while other nations are seeing a 12.5 per cent levy.
Michelin-starred restaurant owner in South Korea faces jail over ant dessert
Prosecutors in South Korea have asked a court to sentence the owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant to one year in prison for serving a dessert topped with ants, an insect not approved for consumption under local food safety law.
The request, made on Monday, also sought a 20m won (£10,108) fine for the company that runs the restaurant, Yonhap news agency reported.
U.S. descendants of Acadians deported from Canada in 1700s seeking to become citizens
Dozens of Acadians living in the United States are among those hoping to become Canadian citizens under the country’s new citizenship by descent law — but one expert says the Immigration Department’s narrow interpretation of the rules appears to disregard the history of this particular group.
Nadine Morin, a documentation specialist at the Anselme-Chiasson Centre for Acadian Studies at the Université de Moncton, said she’s received genealogy requests from at least 30 people since January.
At first, she said, she thought it might be a stretch to trace the Canadian connection back to the 1700s. “It wasn’t even Canada yet,” she said in an interview.
How come you never hear a hue and cry from our leftists about the historic maltreatment of the Acadians?
We hear what awful slavers we were even though slavery was abolished before Canada existed, just as the expulsion took place long before 1867.
Patient Wants To Live But Doctors Say Otherwise–A Paradox in the End-of-Life Care Debate in France
No sooner had France passed its law authorising euthanasia than a borderline case emerged in the press, bearing witness to the deadly spiral into which the country is being drawn. It undoubtedly illustrates the concerns of those who had been warning of a gradual shift in decision-making power towards the medical profession.
CBSA whistleblower drops out of public eye after threats, advice to go low-profile

Jamil Jivani: Does Mark Carney want to lead the U.S. Democratic Party?
It sure looks like Mark Carney is auditioning to be the next leader of the U.S. Democratic Party.
As a Canadian Member of Parliament who represents working families impacted by U.S. tariffs, I want to know why Carney is more interested in playing American politics than being the prime minister of Canada.

In Blue America, Insulting The Third World Is A Blasphemous Offense
The American public has generally accepted that part of having constitutionally protected speech free of government prosecution means people are able to say mean things. But with leftists’ increasing radicalism and the importation of the Third World, that acceptance is becoming more and more endangered.
Bombshell Biden memo: More illegals means more illegal voters
Missouri Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt recently shared documents that appeared to show that former President Joe Biden’s advisers encouraged him to extend temporary protected status for millions of noncitizens that would have ensnared President Trump in an even more colossal legal and illegal invasion crisis.

The RCMP Said ‘No Appetite’ in 2019. Now Ontario Police Describe Cartel Brokers Inside Canada’s Trucking Industry — at the Center of a $139 Million Bust
TORONTO — In the first days of June, Ontario’s highest court quietly affirmed the release of Deepak Paradkar, a Toronto-area criminal lawyer accused by United States prosecutors of serving as a senior operative inside Ryan Wedding’s billion-dollar drug organization — the man who, the indictment alleges, introduced the former Canadian Olympian to the “trusted couriers” who carried cartel cocaine and methamphetamine into Canada through the arteries of the commercial trucking industry.
Dems Dump White Voters and Create Presidential Path for AOC
One of the dirty tricks that the Dems pulled to create a runway for Joe Biden was rejiggering the primary calendar to move South Carolina, where he had solid black backing, and pushing aside Iowa and New Hampshire, where lefties tend to perform well.
