Jason Arday is dead and the ‘racist’ mainstream media killed him. That has been the narrative spun since the disgraced Cambridge professor was tragically found dead at a property in south London last Friday.

Canada has its own Jason Ardays — our versions of the Black British academic who recently committed suicide after it was revealed that he plagiarized much of his academic work and invented a fabulist version of his personal history.

The Canadian versions might not be as outlandish — but they almost certainly exist. The system incentivizes their creation.

An academic who made plagiarism allegations against Professor Jason Arday before his death has been suspended by a university.

Professor Arday resigned from his role at the University of Cambridge this month after he faced intense scrutiny over accusations of plagiarism initially made by fellow academic Nathan Cofnas.

Mr Cofnas, who has advocated for ‘race realism’, is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University’s department of philosophy and moral sciences, according to his website.

The tragedy of Jason Arday was barely wrapped up, his body not yet cold, before the racism cryers were swarming social media. ‘He’d still be alive if he’d been white’ — that was the wail of these ghouls of grievance. Within hours of the announcement of his death, a scalding morality tale had been forged: he was unjustly hounded by the media, and it’s because he was black. It’s a narrative as full of holes as some of those that the tragic Arday weaved during his career. It mustn’t stand.

The racists were his enablers.

The Jason Arday story has ended in unspeakable tragedy. Yesterday, Arday was found ‘unresponsive’ at an address in south London. His death was unexpected, but is not being treated as suspicious, say the police.

In recent decades, and especially in recent weeks, we have heard much about the plight of victimised, marginalised minorities, and the belief that they ought to be afforded special treatment and extra privileges by way of recompense. The Jason Arday debacle is a reminder of this chronic state of affairs.

You would think, given how stupid some people are, that they would have difficulty breathing. After all, it’s clear their brains are broken.

But God, being merciful, ensured that our autonomic functions are controlled unconsciously, so that even lefty academics are able to breathe normally despite being otherwise brain-dead.

The song lyrics were the first red flag. The way he’d ramble about Tinie Tempah or Eminem, or how black artists like Beyoncé were sexualized by white men, without offering any evidence to substantiate his claims. Or else there were the film clips, from Fish Tank and Kidulthood, which he’d tell us to discuss without offering guidance on how to do so. And this was if he was even in the classroom at all. He often arrived late and left early, once teaching for a single hour when four were scheduled.

Hilary Cremin, the head of Cambridge University’s Faculty of Education, could not stop smiling as she welcomed Jason Arday to her department as a professor. “We are so lucky to have you,” she beamed. “You are the best in the world in terms of the research that you do.”

Those words have come back to haunt Prof Cremin after Mr Arday resigned on Wednesday night following weeks of damaging revelations by The Telegraph about his apparent plagiarism and partially fabricated CV.

A college president and former chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities plagiarized extensively in her doctoral dissertation, a Daily Wire review found.

Heidi M. Anderson is president of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. For nearly four decades, she has climbed the academic ladder while producing an unremarkable amount of low-quality research.

The University of Cambridge has announced a review into the way it vets and hires senior academic staff in an effort to fend off external and internal criticism of its appointment of Jason Arday as a professor.

But a group of Cambridge academics quickly rejected the university’s response, saying: “We strongly believe that a thorough and transparent investigation into the wider circumstances of this damaging episode is essential.”

Arday resigned earlier this week after mounting scepticism over his personal and professional claims, three-and-a-half years after he was acclaimed as Cambridge’s youngest black professor with a life story of educational disadvantage, including being unable to speak until the age of 11.

The University of Cambridge has launched an investigation into Prof Jason Arday after The Telegraph revealed he falsely claimed to have published a book.

A Cambridge spokesman said the university “has begun an investigation following new information about Prof Arday’s academic qualifications and honorary appointments”.

Prof Arday, who is a professor of sociology of education, has also been the subject of plagiarism claims after The Telegraph reported that he had been accused of copying parts of his PhD thesis from another student.
