Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 – yes, that tariff act, aka the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, the law that famously turned a stock market crash into a worldwide depression – authorizes the President of the United States to impose tariffs on imports from foreign countries that impose “any unreasonable charge, exaction, regulation, or limitation which is not equally enforced upon the like articles of every foreign country,” or that otherwise discriminate “against the commerce of the United States.” The tariff can be anything up to 50 per cent.

Trump’s Apparent Confusion: Who Are Friends of His and Who Are Friends of the West

“Scum” would seem quite fitting to describe the current Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially after Israel informed US President Donald J. Trump that Iran’s leaders are planning to kill him.

It is to be hoped that the US President might now kindly reconsider who his real friends are and who America’s real friends are. A few of President Trump’s “good friends” he has mentioned are the leaders of Qatar, Turkey, Russia and China. They might be friends of his; unfortunately, that does not mean they have at heart the best interests of America or the West. Their definitions of “best interests ” may well consist of what they would like — not necessarily what the Free World might like.

Toronto pro-Palestinian protester charged with terrorism over alleged Hamas links

A pro-Palestinian demonstrator has been charged with terrorism over his alleged actions in association with Hamas, Toronto police said Wednesday.

Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad, 33, was arrested following a joint investigation by the Toronto police hate crime unit and the RCMP national security team.

He appeared in court on Tuesday.

In just the last three weeks there have been three heinous truck driving crashes that have gone unreported by ABC, CBS, NBC. Why? Probably because they all involved illegals (or in one case a diversity lottery winner) who entered the U.S. during the Biden years.

The recent backlash against a now-retracted Amnesty International report on “the anti-rights movement in the U.K.” can be considered a case study in Canadian complacency.

Here’s what happened: On July 8, Amnesty International published a report naming dozens of registered charities, businesses and groups they accused of forming an “anti-rights movement targeting the rights of women and LGBT+ people in the U.K.” The report categorized these actors as either anti-abortion, “ultra-conservative” Christian, involved in “conversion practices,” or gender critical. The list included lesbian and gay groups, like Gay Men’s Network UK, and Lesbian Strength, as well as For Women Scotland (the group responsible for the landmark U.K. Supreme Court ruling stating that women are female) and even Beira’s Place, a women’s crisis centre founded by J.K. Rowling. The groups were accused of “fostering moral panic” with an “aim … to restrict human rights by undermining human rights protections in law and practice.”

Europol Annual Report Admits Islamic Jihad Remains Top Terror Threat

Islamic jihad remained by far and away the largest terror threat facing the European Union, followed in second place by far-left extremists, the annual report by Europol found.

The European Union Terrorism Situation and Trend Report released this month stated that there were 45 terrorist incidents across Europe in 2025, of which 22 were completed, 20 were foiled, and 3 failed, resulting in the deaths of six people. Europol noted that this was a decrease over the previous year, when there were 58 attacks, 34 of which were successful, with five fatalities.

Suspect sought after youth sexually assaulted on TTC bus: police

Toronto police are working to identify a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a young person on board a TTC bus last week.

According to police, the incident happened in the area of Victoria Park and Danforth avenues at around 4 p.m. on July 16.

Police allege that a youth boarded a TTC bus at Victoria Park Subway Station and sat in the first row behind the driver.

America needs a new Red Scare

Adolf Hitler was something of a piker compared to Mao, the greatest mass murderer in mankind’s history. It’s impossible to measure the misery, destitution, and death inflicted by the communist dictator. Was it 20, 30, 40 million dead? We don’t really know.

For the sake of moral clarity, however, let’s concede that celebrating Mao is as grotesque as celebrating Hitler. No decent human being would do it. No decent society would normalize it.

Chinese EVs are a bundle of security risks in a metal box. Do we really want them?

A $25,000 electric vehicle sounds like exactly what Canadian consumers have been waiting for. But when that bargain comes from China, the real cost may have little to do with the sticker price.

Earlier this year, as part of the strategic partnership with China, Prime Minister Mark Carney agreed to allow up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) into the Canadian market at a favourable tariff rate. These EVs have just begun to arrive with prices between $25,000 to $35,000 – approximately half the current average cost for an EV in Canada. But before Canadian consumers get too excited or seek to jump behind the wheel of a freshly imported BYD or Dongfeng, they should understand why Canada had a prohibitive tariff rate on Chinese EVs prior to this year and what security risks the high-tech automobiles pose to both drivers and the country as a whole.

A Perth-born pediatrician who joined ISIS “can rot in jail” a minister said after it was revealed he was alive despite being thought dead for almost a decade.

Tareq Kamleh, dubbed “Dr Jihad”, joined the Islamist militant group at its peak last decade.
