An American transgender refugee is back in the United States after spending a period inside a dangerous Islamic asylum center in the Netherlands, but she’s still not happy with the US.

Jane-Michelle Arc, 48, fled to Ter Apel, the Netherlands’ largest refugee camp, after Trump was re-elected in 2024 – saying that she feared for her safety as a trans woman living in America.

She claimed asylum in the European country – and while she endured tough conditions in the sqaulid camp where stabbings and attacks are commonplace, she came to the realization that she actually wanted to return to her native California.

The federal government didn’t even need to initiate development plans: This was Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s baby. All Ottawa needed to do, really, was stand back and let it happen.

Prosecutors Charge Swedish Pensioner Over Islam-Critical Posts

Swedish authorities have charged a 65-year-old pensioner on disability benefits from Växjö with “agitation against a population group” after he posted a critical image of Islam in a Facebook comments section.

Lars-Ivar Carlsén shared the image under a post by the Palestine Group in Malmö on December 11 last year. The text read; Islam is not a religion. It is a death cult for murderers, rapists, incest, and pedophiles.

Canada ramps up ability to fight wars as peacekeeping role recedes

OTTAWA — Back in February this year, over 11 days at a military base in Kingston, Ont., the Canadian Army was at war.

At least, it pretended it was.

The “division-level war game” that played out that month simulated — on computer screens, whiteboards, and tabletop battle maps — what it would be like to fight a “high-intensity conflict against a peer adversary,” the military explained in a subsequent statement.

Dairy farmers warn against concessions as U.S. tariff deadline looms

OTTAWA — Canadian dairy farmers are warning against any concessions involving their sector as trade talks intensify with the United States ahead of President Donald Trump’s tariff deadline.

A new round of 50 per cent tariffs on a range of Canadian goods is set to take effect on Aug. 19. Unlike most of Trump’s other tariffs, these would have no exemptions for goods that comply with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico agreement on trade.
