US issues sanctions against UK-based direct action group Palestine Action
The US has issued sanctions against the UK-based direct action organisation Palestine Action, describing it as a “transnational terror group”.
The US Department of the Treasury labelled Palestine Action a specially designated global terrorist on Wednesday, which allows the US to freeze the assets of foreign individuals and entities.
Palestine Action became the first direct action group to be proscribed under the UK’s Terrorism Act in July last year, placing it alongside the likes of Islamic State and Boko Haram. The UK ban is the subject of a legal challenge that will be heard by the UK supreme court in November.
Canadians Stand Their Ground as Trade War Intensifies

Between last Friday and Tuesday, the “Big Three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC spent 18 minutes and 25 seconds on their flagship morning and evening newscasts fawning, giggling, and reveling in the Chinese Communist Party’s second World Humanoid Robot Games with thousands of robots completing tasks ranging from basic household chores to track and field events. Missing was any direct acknowledgment of concerns about surveillance by the CCP.
The most we got were a pathetic two sentences from NBC alluding to a U.S. ban on robots and quadrupeds because of “national security concerns.”

European Vacation: Canada’s Carney to attend EU’s State of the Union
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will join European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for the most high-profile political moment in the EU’s calendar, amid a worsening rift between the U.S. and Ottawa.
A European Commission official close to von der Leyen confirmed to POLITICO that Carney had accepted an invitation to attend the State of the EU speech in Strasbourg on Sept. 16, where the president will set out her priorities for the bloc.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta agreed to pay roughly $18 billion to settle a lawsuit brought by 29 states over allegations that Facebook and Instagram harmed children through addictive design.
NBC News reports that the settlement, which still needs a judge’s approval, came one day after Instagram chief Adam Mosseri testified in a California courtroom. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had also been expected to take the stand before the deal was reached.
