This past weekend, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) unveiled “Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present,” and the exhibit turned out to be exactly what critics had feared. Instead of providing a balanced historical examination, the exhibit memory-holes key context — including Arab rejection of the UN partition plan and the full scope of the 1948 war — in favour of a politicized, one-sided narrative that focuses on catastrophe and “ongoing dispossession.” And I didn’t even have to visit the exhibit to reach this conclusion. The proof is right there on the museum’s website for anyone willing to compare it with the full historical record.

Volkswagen as a Symptom of Europe’s Industrial Decline

Volkswagen is no longer facing a simple internal restructuring. The German group is considering a downsizing plan that could affect up to 100,000 jobs worldwide and lead to the closure of four plants in Germany—Hanover, Zwickau, Emden, and Neckarsulm (the latter associated with Audi) after previously reaching an agreement with unions to eliminate 50,000 jobs by 2030.

The figure places Germany’s largest industrial company in the midst of its most severe labour crisis in decades.

Beheaders call for pro-Beheaders education in schools

The Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council has released a new policy handbook calling for “anti-Islamophobia education” to be integrated into Canadian school curriculums, along with at least $40 million in federal funding for security at mosques and Islamic schools.

The handbook was launched on Parliament Hill earlier this month to mark the fifth anniversary of the June 6, 2021, killing of a Muslim family in London, Ontario. NDP House Leader Heather McPherson joined CMPAC executive director Khaled Al-Qazzaz and youth representatives at the event.

The Myth of Cursed Soil

Last year, I wrote on the “myth of magic soil,” an idea blithely trotted out by anti-American leftists — and even many on the more moderate of the political spectrum’s right wing — and hammered into the minds of citizens ad nauseam. According to the myth of magic soil, anyone can become an American just by coming to America. Doesn’t matter if you come from a high-trust Anglo-Saxon community steeped in Christian morality and born from the profound courage and towering thought of the Western tradition or if you crawled out of some impoverished, crime-ridden, backwards Third World Muslim country, the Left declares that you can be just as American as the man whose ancestors arrived on the Mayflower and whose family has served in the U.S. Armed Forces every generation since 1776.

The Canadian Institute for Health Information has released its annual report on emergency department wait times, a litany of data that is as mind-numbing as it is depressing.

One in 10 people who head to their local ED wait more than 14 hours for care. For the sickest of the sick, those who need to be admitted to hospital, the waits are three times longer. One in 10 wait more than 48 hours, languishing on stretchers in hospital hallways. Individually, it can be much worse, like the 79-year-old man in Edmonton with severe influenza, who waited 90 hours for a bed.

MS NOW contributor and Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr appeared on Tuesday’s Morning Joe to offer his repetitively bleak take on America as the nation nears its 250th birthday.

Glaude described America as a “white republic,” built on “greed and selfishness and grift and hatred.” Invoking Moby Dick, he analogized the US to an ugly “white whale” that threatens to “choke out the life of the country.” Patriotism is racism.
