Privacy watchdog says he was never consulted on bill allowing secret internet bans

Canada’s privacy watchdog says he was never consulted on a federal bill that could let cabinet secretly shut down a Canadian’s internet or phone access.

Blacklock’s Reporter says Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne told MPs the issue “never came up” before the Trudeau government tabled Bill C-8, legislation that would give Ottawa sweeping new powers over telecommunications companies in the name of cybersecurity.

Michael Murphy: British multiculturalism has failed

LONDON — Now we know what globalizing the intifada looks like. In Manchester last week, a rabbi addressed his congregation in a robe stained with blood. Hours earlier, on Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day, a jihadi terrorist rammed a car into worshippers at the gates of a synagogue before going on a stabbing spree. By the time officers shot the attacker, two were dead and four more injured, some from accidental police fire.

Mosque in uber-liberal London enclave bans all females over 12 from charity park run

Women and girls over the age of 12 have been banned by a mosque from taking part in a charity fun run, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The 5km event being held in an East London park today – which has been billed as ‘inclusive’ and ‘family-friendly’ – is open to men and boys of all ages, but organisers insist that female teenagers and women can be forbidden from joining in.

The fundraiser, called Muslim Charity Run and organised by East London Mosque, is being held in Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets.

American spirit exports to Canada ‘plummeted’ 85%, says U.S. trade group

American spirit exports to Canada “plummeted” 85 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, with the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States calling the situation “very troubling” as consumers in key international markets opt for alternatives to U.S.-made products amid trade tensions.

The numbers come as American alcohol largely remains off Canadian shelves and unavailable in bars and restaurants as a response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on Canadian goods in early March.

Hamas ‘ready to relinquish control’ of Gaza but refuses to disarm

Tel Aviv – Trump as Cyrus The Great

But terror group refuses to disarm calling into question key points in US president’s peace deal

Hamas will relinquish control of Gaza but won’t disarm, a source close to the terror group’s negotiation committee said.

Israel is bracing to receive all 20 hostages as part of the initial deal to end the war, with the vice-president JD Vance saying they could be handed over “any moment now”.

Israel says the exchange will happen on Monday morning, when Donald Trump is due to arrive in Israel before flying to Egypt for a truce ceremony.

No survivors found after Tennessee explosives plant blast

Sixteen people missing after a major explosion at a Tennessee munitions factory on Friday are presumed to be dead, according to the sheriff.

Recovery teams had been clinging to hope of finding any of the missing alive, as of Saturday evening “it’s safe” to assume they are deceased, said Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis.

Authorities had originally feared that 18 people had died, but two people believed present during the blast were actually not at the site and have been located, according to Davis.

REMIGRATION NOW!

Ontario Sikh leader explains why he refused protection: ‘I’d rather take India’s bullet’

The man who has replaced Hardeep Singh Nijjar as the leader of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group in Canada says he turned down an offer of protection from the Canadian government that would have required him to “disappear” from his life.

Inderjeet Singh Gosal of Brampton, Ont., is considered one of the main targets for assassination by the same forces that already gunned down his predecessor in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, B.C.

Gosal says he has no plans to keep a low profile and will be in the nation’s capital for an SFJ-organized referendum on Punjabi independence from India next month — an event sure to infuriate the Modi government.

London council omits anti-Semitism from list of hate crimes

A London council left anti-Semitism off a list of hate crimes while including many other forms of prejudice, including transphobia and Islamophobia.

Tower Hamlets “cropped” the reference to anti-Jewish discrimination from a website page promoting support for National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

For four years, the poster on the web page has not made any reference to anti-Semitism, while at the same time listing disablism, homophobia, Islamophobia, racism and transphobia.

A mere accident I’m sure.
