Activist Robby Starbuck Sues Google Over Claims of False AI Info

Conservative activist Robby Starbuck filed a defamation lawsuit against Google alleging its artificial-intelligence tools falsely connected Starbuck to sexual-assault claims and to a white nationalist.

Starbuck said he became aware of the inaccuracies in 2023 while using Bard, an early Google AI tool. Bard said that Starbuck had ties to Richard Spencer, a once-prominent white nationalist, according to the lawsuit. At the time, Starbuck took to social-media platform X and tagged Google and its CEO in a post about the details:

“Imagine a future where Bard is used to decide whether you get a loan, if you’re approved for adoption,” he asked his hundreds of thousands of followers at the time. The lawsuit says newer Google AI tools produced other falsehoods about him earlier this year, including claims that Starbuck had been accused of sexual assault.

NDP’s Avi Lewis helps author report accusing pro-Israel Jewish group of promoting anti-Palestinian racism

OTTAWA—Federal NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis is among a group of Jewish academics slamming one of Canada’s biggest pro-Israel Jewish groups as anti-Palestinian in a new report released Tuesday.

The report, authored by six members of the Jewish Faculty Network, is based on an examination of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs’ (CIJA) public statements and social media posts during the first six months of the war in Gaza. It argues the organization has promoted anti-Palestinian racism “through the idea that unrestricted violence against Palestinians is necessary for Jewish safety,” pushed for a crackdown on protesters critical of Israel, and excluded dissenting Jewish voices.

LILLEY: Carney government looking at US deal without auto industry

Are we close to reaching a deal with the Americans and if so does it include auto? It’s tough to tell based on what the government is saying, but their actions are speaking louder than their words.

On Tuesday morning, Mark Carney’s point man on cross-border trade was downplaying a story in the Globe and Mail that said the government was close to a deal with Trump on steel, aluminum and energy — but not autos.

‘Idle disgrace’ Prince Andrew must leave Royal Lodge, say ministers

Prince Andrew is facing mounting pressure from ministers and senior politicians to leave his grace-and-favour mansion on the Windsor Estate after accusations that he is a “disgrace” who is “sponging off the state”.

The Times disclosed this week that Andrew has not paid rent on Royal Lodge, a 30-room property, for two decades.

The prince agreed to pay £1 million plus at least £7.5 million for refurbishment of the lodge, which entitled him and his family to live in the property rent-free until 2078. The agreement states that if the prince chooses to leave the property he will be compensated but cannot be evicted.

More … Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge lifeline collapses

Prince Andrew’s future at Royal Lodge is in doubt after the collapse of a business deal that was intended to provide a financial lifeline, the Telegraph can reveal.

The deal would have allowed the Prince to abide by the terms of his lease by paying for the hugely expensive upkeep of the vast Windsor estate.

Without it, he could face eviction from the 30-room Windsor property, on which he has not paid rent for two decades.

The CBC’s Burqa Wearing Misogyny Expert Is More Butch Than Their Masculinity Expert

Misogynistic ideas made popular online are popping up in Canadian classrooms, survey says

In her Grade 8 to Grade 12 classrooms, Annie Ohana says ideas with toxic undertones are often not far away.

Like earlier this school year, when she was handing out cups for an activity, and a boy asked if any part of it would “lower [his] testosterone.” The student conceded he didn’t actually know what testosterone was or how it impacted his body but, Ohana says, he was familiar with the misinformation that circulates online that claims men who have low testosterone are less masculine.

“I know exactly where that kind of language comes from. It is very much from… the manosphere,” Ohana told CBC News.

The CBC is Progressive Hell. The manliness person has an NGO. Of course.

British troops sent to Israel to monitor Gaza ceasefire

British troops have deployed to Israel to join a multinational force that will monitor the fragile ceasefire in Gaza after a request from the Americans.

A senior commander and a small number of military personnel will be based in the country as part of a team led by the United States that will provide logistical and security assistance in the region. The two-star officer will be deputy to an American commander operating from a “civil-military” co-ordination centre in Israel that already includes American troops.

Can Carney do the hard things needed to save Canada?

“Lest it be forgotten, cultivating oligopolies rather than competition is more Canada’s economic forte. We have a banking oligopoly, an insurance oligopoly, a telecom oligopoly, an airline oligopoly, a retail-grocery oligopoly, big oil, big rail and a beer oligopoly too.”

It’s not going well. The depth of despair in Ottawa over tariffs and trade talks with the U.S. has inspired a sudden conviction that “competition” is the new “sustainability.”

Canada’s climate-change strategy is now a “climate-competitiveness strategy” according to Prime Minister Mark Carney.
