The British government is reportedly planning to pressure large social media companies to actively promote the BBC and other legacy media outlets, in a bid to confront “disinformation”.
Amid increasing attempts by the UK government to police mainly American social networks, including the impending ban on under-16s, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s administration is said to be interested in fundamentally altering algorithms in favour of so-called trusted news outlets.
B.C. is facing a glut of empty condos. Thousands of Metro Vancouver units are sitting empty and some developers are facing insolvency.
Now, some housing experts are questioning a plan by the federal and provincial governments to buy some of those vacant units and turn them into affordable housing.
They say it amounts to a multi-billion dollar bail out for developers who refuse to lower prices to reflect a sluggish real estate market.
This smells very bad.
Actress and wannabe expat Rosie O’Donnell says she believes President Donald Trump will use an “assassination attempt or terrorist bombing” to cancel this year’s midterm elections.
“People are revving up for the midterms,” author Marianne Williamson told O’Donnell during an interview Wednesday. “They are revving up, as well, for an obvious rigging of this election.”

WINNIPEG — The Canadian Museum for Human Rights says an exhibit about displaced Palestinians is to go ahead as planned, despite criticism that it’s a potentially one-sided story.
The exhibit, opening June 27, focuses on people affected by the Nakba, Arabic for catastrophe, when about 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced in 1948 during fighting over control of what is now Israel.
On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security released a statement that claimed the alleged ringleader of the foiled terrorist attack on the UFC fight at the White House the previous Sunday is an illegal immigrant. Since then, ABC’s Good Morning America and World News Tonight, NBC’s Nightly News and Today, and CBS’s Evening News and CBS Mornings have not disclosed this new information to the viewers of their morning and evening newscasts. By contrast, the networks have continued to obsess over the latest setbacks in President Trump’s efforts to renovate the reflecting pool on the National Mall by spending 13 minutes and 18 seconds on the subject.
ST. THOMAS – A man convicted of throwing stones at Canada’s former prime minister three years ago has now been charged with threatening the current prime minister – this time online.
Shane Marshall, 29, of St. Thomas, appeared in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas charged with uttering threats to cause death by making social media posts directed at Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Donald Trump has enthusiastically agreed with a public assessment by a man he met while golfing that the “overwhelming difference” between the current US president and historical figures who incited fear – such as Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao and Hitler – is that Trump is more powerful.
The US president reposted a short text in the early hours of Friday morning, in which the author writes:
“Historically, powerful people were characterised by brutal conquest and the fear that they instilled in the populations that came under their influence. Common names that would come to mind are Alexander the Great, the Caesars, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hunt, Tamburlaine, Napoleon and, more recently, Hitler, Mao, and Stalin.
Police are investigating the role of a vulnerable adult’s carers in an incident in which a three-year-old boy was thrown into a zoo’s crocodile pit.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary officers are understood to be assessing the two carers’ actions after the 30-year-old man was left free to pick up the child and throw him into the enclosure.
The boy, who was rescued by a heroic zookeeper, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital. He suffered serious injuries in the fall and was attacked by at least one crocodile.
Americans, Swedes, and New Zealanders have been given free accommodation and taxpayer-funded benefits in Britain after claiming asylum, despite coming from some of the safest and wealthiest countries in the Western world.
New Home Office figures show that 245 migrants from the European Union, the United States, and other developed Western nations were living in state-funded accommodation as of March while their asylum claims were being processed.
