The media’s betrayal of the poor

At the end of his career, in his 1907 retirement speech, Joseph Pulitzer wrote up his credo for journalism. He was adamant about the thing that made it a noble profession, one worth dedicating your life to: “Never lack sympathy with the poor.”

Living in the Gilded Age, there were plenty of poor people for journalists to sympathise with — the streets were teeming with working-class Americans who had been cast out of the comforts enjoyed by the obscenely wealthy industrialists. You might think modern-day America — a new Gilded Age in which the gap between the rich and the poor is wider than it has been in living memory — would provide another such opportunity for American journalists to sympathise with the lower classes. You would be wrong.

Why is Sir David Amess dead? The proximate explanation of the death of an MP that personified the best of parliamentary service is grimly straightforward: a horrifying act of violence during his weekly Friday meetings with his constituency. But what of the psychological, political, or ideological build-up to that moment? What drove someone to stab a dedicated public servant to death as his horrified constituents looked on?

To have read the British press in recent days is to be left with the impression that Amess’s death was, first and foremost, a consequence of a shortage of civility of British public life.

Media Allies Rush to Defend Biden After Devastating Day of Testimony

Several media members rushed to President Joe Biden’s defense Tuesday after it was suggested the president lied about feedback he was given by top military officials regarding last month’s horrific withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Within their testimonies, Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and U.S. Central Command Gen. Kenneth McKenzie described how they both recommended the U.S. maintain a 2,500-troop presence in Afghanistan.

Throughout 2020, the media reported a ‘scientific consensus’ about the pandemic’s origins without providing any information about its investigations

ABC, CBS Smear Border Patrol Agents With Lies About Using ‘Whips’ on Illegals

Parroting the Biden White House’s use of “horrific” to describe the images coming out of Del Rio, Texas Monday, ABC and CBS drew viewers’ attention to the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border. But no, they weren’t talking about the nearly 15,000 Haitian illegals living under the international bridge in squalid conditions. CRUEL SUMMER: Nets Spend Less Than an Hour on Crime Spike in Dem Cities

The summer of 2021 has seen a spike in violent crimes, especially murder in Democratic cities across the country, a predictable result of progressives’ calls for defunding of the police. Yet the ABC, CBS, NBC evening news programs have barely covered this dangerous crime wave as they’ve devoted less than an hour of coverage (58 minutes, 15 seconds) in three months (June 1-August 31) to the ongoing crime sprees in 15 Democratic-run cities.

Obviously the liberal media don’t want to embarrass President Joe Biden with stories about out-of-control violence that he’s done essentially nothing to stop.

Engaging in shameful duplicity regarding crime and policing, the media attempt to portray the California gubernatorial candidate as anti-black.

The possibility that Larry Elder may win California’s recall election against Governor Gavin Newsom is generating acute anxiety in the mainstream media and among the activist Left. Elder’s foes are responding with their favored means of destruction: by playing the race card. Never mind that the nationally syndicated talk show host is black. A series of opinion columns and editorials have accused him of being a white supremacist, or at the very least a shill for other white supremacists. Elect Elder and California will reinstate Jim Crow, state senator Sydney Kamlager, a Democrat from Los Angeles, has warned.

Our despicable mainstream media did everything in their vast and coercive power to see Joe Biden elected president.

President Trump was a madman, they said, a Hitler, and a host of other ridiculous charges that were patently untrue. He was, and history will show, that he was the best president since Ronald Reagan.

But the media hated him because he wasn’t one of their imagined exalted elite. So they lied, cheated, and stole an election in order to put the dementia-ridden Biden in the Oval Office.

The Glorious Death of American Legacy Media, and What Comes Next

The public doesn’t trust our corporate media talking heads, and almost nobody is paying attention to them anymore.

There was, over the weekend amid a cacophony of media resistance to the formerly unifying celebration of America’s Independence Day, one of the most amateurish and ridiculous cartoons ever produced.

It came courtesy of Communist China’s Xinhua News Agency, a propaganda shop with its rhetorical guns aimed at the American people and the ideas of our founding. The cartoon depicted a pair of white guys in suits clinking glasses together with “TO FREEDOM” in a quote bubble above their heads, and just to their right a crazed lunatic in a ski hat held a pistol in one hand and an AR-15 style rifle in the other with “OF SHOOTING” in a quote bubble above his. The mass shooter, as he’s clearly supposed to be, is standing over a gravestone upon which is written “DEATH FROM FIREARM.”
