The war for your child’s soul

Why do the woke hate Ron DeSantis? Because he’s making it harder for them to control your kids.

Just when you thought the woke couldn’t get any weirder, now they want the right to cause psychological distress to your children. How else do we explain their agitation with one part in particular of Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s Stop WOKE Act – namely, the bit that forbids schoolteachers from making kids feel ‘guilt, anguish or other forms of psychological distress’ on the basis of their race, gender or national origin?

Minnesota’s ‘Orwellian’ Bias Registry Will Chill Speech, Could Be Used to Punish Enemies, Critics Say

Writing an article claiming that Covid-19 is a Chinese bioweapon.

Wearing a T-shirt that expresses love for Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling.

Not using someone’s preferred pronouns. Posting a Bible verse online critical of homosexuality.

These are all examples of alleged hate that could soon be compiled by the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and logged in a new database or registry of bias under a proposal that has already been approved by the state’s Democrat-controlled house and senate.

The political brawl over ‘woke’ is about everything and nothing

Addressing the Liberal Party convention in Ottawa last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked some of the criticism his government has gotten lately from the Conservative opposition.

“They either say investing in Canadians is a waste of money or that our policies are too woke,” he said. “Too woke?”

He continued, directing his gaze at the TV camera perched on a riser in the middle of the room: “Hey, Pierre Poilievre. It’s time for you to wake up.”

US Air Force Ran A Social Experiment To Graduate More Minority Pilots. It Didn’t Go As Planned

The U.S. Air Force abandoned an experiment aimed at boosting pilot training graduation rates for women and minority pilots after the 2021 initiative failed to achieve the intended results and officers privately warned it could violate anti-discrimination policies, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

As part of the larger military-wide effort to promote diversity in the service’s pilot ranks, the 19th Air Force command near San Antonio, Texas, “clustered” racial minorities and female trainees into one class, dubbed “America’s Class,” to find out if doing so would improve the pilots’ graduation rates. However, not only did the effort fail to boost minority and women candidates’ success rates, but officers involved say they were ordered to engage in potentially unlawful discrimination by excluding white males from the class, documents show.

University With Mostly Shakespeare Profs of Color Sees English Majors Disappear

When English courses go woke, do you stick around or do you go do something else?

The English major of a decade or two ago or today is very different. Within a fairly short span of time the traditional way of studying and analyzing texts has mostly been sidelined at universities in favor of identity politics readings. Look at the UCLA English courses and you’ll see a once respected department where half the courses are about race, sexuality, and assorted wokeness ‘lenses’ filtering out the actual books.

This has become commonplace and it’s anathema to anyone who actually loves words and books.

Terence Corcoran: The railway hit Gordon Lightfoot could not write today

Canadian Railroad Trilogy, the late songwriter’s hymn to progress, would not make it past CBC gatekeepers today

On the northernmost point of Tudhope Park, on a narrow peninsula reaching into Lake Couchiching just outside the Ontario town of Orillia, 150 kilometres due north of Toronto, stands a statue of Gordon Lightfoot, the Canadian singer and songwriter who died Monday at the age of 84. The park, which is home to the Mariposa Folk Festival, is not far from where Lightfoot was born.

Race and Gender Narcissism in Austin

The University of Texas has created a DEI bureaucracy that promotes every fashionable left-wing delusion.

The University of Texas has created a radical DEI bureaucracy that equates “objectivity” with “white supremacy,” recommends the word “wimmin” as a replacement for “women,” and affirms “polyamory” and “polyfidelity” as positive sexual identities.

I have obtained a cache of documents through public-records requests revealing the DEI bureaucracy’s stunning conquest of Texas’s flagship state university.

Why the Bud Light disaster could cripple the entire company’s many brands for years

Bud Light – The Beer Of Sexual Mutilation Fetishists

The damage done by the casual embrace of a transsexual by Bud Light came at an extremely bad time for not just the brand, but for all the brands sold in the US by the parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI). The reason is rooted in a critical aspect of commerce that mostly escapes public notice: physical distribution.

Homeless in Oregon given right to sue anyone for $1k who tell them to move

State dubbed America’s wokest says people should be allowed to stay in tent city without ‘time limitations’

Homeless people in Oregon could be given the right to sue anybody who tries to move them for $1,000 (£796) under legislation being considered in the state.

Democrats, who hold the majority in the state’s House of Representatives, have drawn up a bill which would decriminalise the tent cities which have been pitched on public spaces.

The bill would allow unhoused people to stay “without discrimination and time limitations”.

Doctor Who has degenerated into a right-on lecture

The BBC’s naff sermons make for joyless, predictable television.

I loved Doctor Who as a kid. Especially the monsters. From the Autons, those plastic animated shop dummies which burst through glass storefronts everywhere in the very first episode of the 2005 reboot, to the unstoppable Daleks, the thought of which kept me awake for nights on end. In later series, thrilling terrors included the Weeping Angels – ‘Don’t blink; blink and you’re dead’ – and the Vashta Nerada, flesh-eating shadows that can move.

Sad that good shows are ruined by woke idiots who think their craziness will be embraced if it is packaged just so.

Museum hires therapist for staff traumatised by discussing ‘life in Britain’

A museum hired a professional therapist to support staff and minority groups over fears that discussing “life in Britain” would be too traumatic.

The acquisition of a therapist, at Edinburgh’s publicly-owned Museum of Childhood, came as part of a £250,000 UK-wide research project designed to explore “experiences of race, empire and migration” in museum collections.

Bud Light’s Not-So-‘Inclusive’ Marketing

In explaining her mandate as Bud Light’s VP of marketing last month, Alissa Heinerscheid made sure to hit all of the requisite buzzwords. “If we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand,” Heinerscheid warned, “there will be no future for Bud Light.” “What I brought to that” endeavor, she continued, “was a belief in, okay, what does ‘evolve and elevate’ mean? It means inclusivity. It means shifting the tone. It means having a campaign that’s truly inclusive and feels lighter and brighter and different and appeals to women and to men.” “Representation,” Heinerscheid concluded, “is sort of the heart of evolution.”

I Helped Make Corporations Woke, and I Regret It

I sat in the Washington office of a major airline’s head of government relations, where we were joined by the top lobbyist for one of America’s largest hotel chains. It was 2013, and I was president of the gay conservative group Log Cabin Republicans. I had come to secure corporate support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would have banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Pressure from leading corporations, I correctly assumed, would push waffling Republicans to vote for the legislation.

Michael Higgins: The rise of the mob and the new woke crusades

The mob is on the march and it brings with it all its inevitable hatred, violence and persecution.

“Woke mob” used to refer to a group of fairly annoying, innocuous people united in support of social justice ideology, cancel culture, trans rights and, here in Canada, the belief that we are a genocidal, colonial, dystopian state.

Now it’s a real mob; a punch-throwing, placard-waving, obscene-chanting rabble.

Military kicks Catholic priests out of Walter Reed Hospital

General Gender Unicorn Milley

Who could have seen this coming during Holy Week?

Even I, a cynic of the first order, could not have imagined that even the Biden Administration would have kicked Catholic priests out of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Yes, they actually did kick the priests out, including sending a cease and desist order to Holy Name College, the order of priests who had been providing pastoral care to those at Walter Reed.
