Prosecutors have approved charges against a captured Canadian ISIS fighter, according to documents that show how federal officials have dealt with citizens detained in Syria.
The approved charges are the first known to have been authorized against a Canadian member of the so-called Islamic State caught in Syria.
They were disclosed in records released to Global News by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) under the Access to Information Act.

It’s always the French, isn’t it? Not content with having given the modern world existentialism, structuralism, deconstructionism (with some help from the Belgians) and Marxist psychoanalytic, they have also, it seems, produced something called Islamo-gauchisme — allegedly an unholy alliance between some on the left and Islamists.
And a lot of people are very cross about this. Or rather, cross with President Macron and his ministers for daring to suggest first that Islamo-gauchisme is actually a thing, then that it might represent a threat to the cohesion of the Fifth Republic — indeed the western liberal order as a whole — and that it, therefore, needs to be resisted.
Never mind that the very term “Islamophobia” is used to silence all legitimate criticism of Islam. Such criticism is said to be based on an “irrational hatred” (a phobia) of Islam and of Muslims, but many of us believe that anyone who studies both the text of the Qur’an, and the observable behavior of Muslims toward non-Muslims both now, and during the past 1400 years, has good grounds for alarm about the Muslims in our midst.
In Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” according to a feature published Thursday in the British Catholic weekly The Tablet, “the Prophet Muhammad, along with four popes, is pictured suffering the torments of Hell.” However, as far as The Tablet is concerned, the big news in this 700-year-old literary masterpiece is not that, but a “less well-known” aspect of the epic poem: “how much Dante’s masterpiece owes to the vibrant culture of early medieval Islam.” Well, of course. All over what used to be known as Christendom, the best and the brightest are eagerly twisting themselves into all sorts of knots in order to argue that Islam has always been a part of the West, and not as a historic adversary, either, but as an integral element of Western culture. Why shouldn’t The Tablet join the party?
The French National Assembly on Friday approved a controversial “anti-separatism” bill despite strong criticisms from parliamentarians from the Left and the Right. The government argued the legislation was needed to bolster France’s secular system, but critics say it breaches religious freedom.
After an acrimonious seven-month debate – with the text going back and forth between France’s lower house, the National Assembly, and the Senate – the anti-separatist bill was approved by 49 votes to 19. There were five abstentions.

Two police officers attacked in Paris by individuals of “African type” who believed them to be gay
At around 4:30 am, this Saturday morning July 24, two police officers were assaulted in the streets of the Oberkampf district, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. According to our information, the two officials, who were not on duty, were attacked by two men and two women. Described by a police source as being of “African type”, the attackers would have taken the police for homosexuals, without knowing who they were really attacking.
When the Taliban and its Al Qaeda allies blew up two giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan,it put the Jihadist alliance on the world’s radar even before the September 11 attacks.

The findings of an Ofsted inspection of the Institute of Islamic Education private boarding school have caused outrage in the UK – notably, the discovery of a book in the school’s library that promotes the killing of homosexuals.
On Tuesday, Ofsted, the UK’s standards authority for education, published a report about the religious boarding school in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
In a viral Facebook post, journalist and author Nima Dervish has urged fellow immigrant debaters to avoid “pissing off Swedes” because their country is “ruined” and they are “mad”.
“An open piece of advice to immigrant debaters. No matter how sensible you are, no matter what important work you do… Cut back the talk about white Swedes and their ‘privileges’. Even if you were right, cut it. Because now is not the time”, Nima Dervish wrote in his widely circulated post.

Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has pledged to continue deporting asylum-seekers back to Afghanistan, after a police officer was attacked at a detention center in Vienna.
“I wish the injured policewoman a speedy recovery,” Kurz said after the attack on Wednesday, as quoted by Austrian media.
It’s unacceptable when people come to us for protection, but neither abide by our laws nor accept our values. Incidents like this show why there must be no stop to deportations to Afghanistan.
As the United States prepares to complete its withdrawal from Afghanistan by August 31, 2021, a growing number of Arabs are worried that the American move will not only bring the Taliban back to power there, but also lead to the re-emergence of other Islamist terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (ISIS).
The Arabs are saying that the Americans are mistaken if they think that the war on terrorism will end with the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan.
They are warning the US that it will pay a heavy price for allowing Afghanistan to fall into the hands of terrorist groups. They are also saying that they see no difference between the Taliban, Al-Qaeda and ISIS, and how these groups openly cooperate with each other.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) added her voice to a group of Democratic lawmakers Tuesday calling on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to appoint a special U.S. international envoy tasked with ending “Islamophobia” wherever it is found.
Omar and two dozen other political allies pointed to what they called the “persecution of Muslims manifesting itself around the world” as reason for the appointment.
“Those who carry crosses should not be offered any prayer, because it is our belief that these people are utter heretics,” he reportedly said in a sermon in in Rosengård’s al-Sahaba mosque. “If someone unwittingly wears a cross on their clothes, we order him to take it off. Whenever the prophet saw a cross in a cloth or on someone’s clothes or whatever, he destroyed it,” he added.
Georgetown University’s Bridge Initiative, a project of its Saudi-founded Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU), claims it exists to combat the pernicious spread of “Islamophobia.” ACMCU’s June 30 webinar featuring former Bridge research fellow Jordan Denari Duffner offered further evidence that Bridge’s real mission is to depict all Muslims as victims and silence critical commentary on Islam. Like the term “Islamophobia” itself, Bridge exists to end, rather than advance, debate.
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a man after a mosque was ransacked and vandalized in Cambridge on July 14.

Conditions banning radical preacher Anjem Choudary from public speaking have been lifted.
Choudary, from Ilford in east London, was jailed for five-and-a-half years in 2016 after being convicted of inviting support for the Islamic State group.
He was released on licence from HMP Belmarsh in 2018, the conditions of which have now come to an end.
It has not been confirmed if police and MI5 will continue to track him or consider him a person of interest.
