Riot police firing rubber bullets into lockdown protesters. Rescue dogs being shot to prevent volunteers travelling to collect them. Nighttime curfews and one hour of exercise per day. Five-kilometer travel limits. Soldiers patrolling suburbs to enforce lockdowns. Health bureaucrats advising the citizenry not to stop and talk to their neighbors while walking their dog.
Newly released data from the United Kingdom show that the vast majority of “delta variant” deaths were among “fully vaccinated” citizens. These deaths also include individuals who had been perfectly healthy before the shot.

A COVID-19 variant first detected in South Africa could be more infectious than other mutations — and may have the potential of being resistant to vaccines, according to a report.
The strain has a mutation rate of about 41.8 mutations per year, almost double the global mutation rate seen in any other existing variant of concern, according to experts at South Africa’s National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform.

Canadians’ anger over an election being called amid the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is not going away, a new poll suggests — in fact, it has risen as the campaign has gone on.
The Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News found 58 per cent of those surveyed agree the country should not be holding an election right now, up two points over the past two weeks.
“This is a persistent issue … the feeling that having this election at this time is inappropriate,” said Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs.
