China’s ambassador warns that banning Huawei from 5G would send ‘a very wrong signal’

China’s ambassador to Canada said Tuesday that denying Huawei Technologies access to Canada’s next-generation 5G wireless network would send a “very wrong signal” — raising the diplomatic stakes for the Trudeau government as it prepares to issue a decision on the file.

While some of Canada’s Five Eyes intelligence-sharing allies have made aggressive moves against Huawei — citing concerns that it is an arm of Chinese military intelligence — Canada has stalled on publicly declaring which companies will be permitted to supply equipment to providers of 5G networks.

Beijing’s top diplomat in Ottawa, Ambassador Cong Peiwu, suggested today a decision by Ottawa denying the media giant access would be received poorly by the Chinese business community.

Warns? More like dictates to the LPC’s China suck ups.

Spy agency warned Trudeau China’s tactics becoming more ‘sophisticated … insidious’ … Then Justin called CSIS racist

As Canada’s spy agency warns that China’s efforts to distort the news and influence media outlets in Canada “have become normalized,” critics are renewing calls for Ottawa to take a far tougher approach to foreign media interference.

The warning is contained in briefing documents drafted for Canadian Security Intelligence Service Director David Vigneault in preparation for a meeting he had with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier this year.

That meeting focused on the rise of foreign interference in Canada — something CSIS says has become “more sophisticated, frequent, and insidious.”

I bet Justin got mad at CSIS and called them racist.

Larry Summers blames ‘social justice warriors’ for giving China a leg up

A top Democratic economist says the rise of “antiracist” math curricula is a national security threat.

Larry Summers, a Harvard economist who led the National Economic Council under former president Barack Obama, shared a letter on Monday signed by almost 600 academics that condemns the rise of woke math initiatives in K-12 schools. The letter says the initiatives have devalued foundational math courses such as algebra and limited advanced math courses “to reduce achievement gaps.” Summers called rigorous math instruction “an economic and a national security imperative,” noting that “in China, math standards are not subject to continued erosion by social justice warriors who can’t themselves define exponential growth or solve quadratic equations.”

Pentagon Chief Warns China’s Military Sorties Are ‘Like Rehearsal’ for Future Operations Against Taiwan

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned on Saturday that the Chinese regime’s repeated military air activities near Taiwan appear to be a “rehearsal” for future military operations against the self-ruled island.

Austin issued the warning on Dec. 4 while speaking at the Reagan National Defense Forum in California. He made the comment about Taiwan while addressing the overall challenges posed by the “emergence of an increasingly assertive and autocratic China.”

I would not be very confident of US assistance if I were Taiwan. Biden’s America will not go to war for them or the Ukraine for the matter. Joe is on the take and US is rife with Quislings sympathetic to totalitarian regimes solely because they share a common enemy – The USA.

The Chinese Communists are, if nothing else, sincere in their belief that their tyrannical system is superior to America’s democratic system.

They’re welcome to it. I would much prefer living in a bad, dysfunctional democratic state than a well-run Communist dictatorship. That’s a sentiment shared by billions of people around the world and that eats at China, giving them a massive inferiority complex.

Taxpayers should not have to ‘subsidize’ telecoms that chose Huawei, Conservatives say

The Conservatives are urging the Liberal government not to spend public money to compensate Canada’s large telecom companies for choosing to use Huawei equipment if it goes ahead with a Huawei 5G ban.

“We ask that your government categorically reject requests for compensation from Canada’s large telecommunications companies,” Conservative Public Safety critic Raquel Dancho said in a letter sent Friday to Public Safety Minister Marco Mendocino and Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne.

A ChiCom Bank gave Frankie Champagne a mortgage so I’m sure we can trust him to do the right thing.

Twitter has shut down thousands of state-linked accounts in China that seek to counter evidence of human rights abuses in Xinjiang, as part of what experts called an “embarrassingly” produced propaganda operation.

The operations used photos and images, shell and potentially automated accounts, and fake Uyghur profiles, to disseminate state propaganda and fake testimonials about their happy lives in the region, seeking to dispel evidence of a years-long campaign of oppression, with mass internments, re-education programs, and allegations of forced labour and sterilisation.

Report: Authoritarian Governments Use Huawei Technology To Censor Journalists

Authoritarian governments use Huawei’s technology to censor journalists, according to an internet freedom watchdog.

Researchers at Top10VPN determined that 17 of the 69 countries studied use the Chinese telecom giant’s hardware to enforce censorship laws. Cuba uses Huawei’s “middlebox” devices to censor stories that criticize the country’s communist regime. In Burundi, the government blocks media outlets that have criticized the president. Fifteen other countries use Huawei hardware specifically to censor news, the report found.

Beijing warns China-linked US businesses: you cannot ‘make a fortune in silence’

Beijing has urged US business groups with interests in China to “speak out” and lobby the US government in its defence, warning that as bilateral relations deteriorate they cannot make money “in silence”.

The vice-foreign minister Xie Feng, in charge of managing China’s relationship with the US, also urged against political boycotts of the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, saying it harms the interests of athletes and was “unpopular”.

Key business groups including the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the US-China Business Council, met Xie at a virtual forum on Tuesday, according to a transcript of his address.
