From 2015 to 2017, the socialist Muslim Senate candidate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, was executive director and health officer of the Detroit Health Department. In that capacity, he was in charge of Detroit’s Animal Control operation at a time when that department was engaged in some highly questionable activities. El-Sayed has boasted about how he “rebuilt the animal control system,” but he actually seems to have left a wide swath of destruction in his wake. And this is not just a story about the ethical treatment of animals.

So called Canadian with alleged Muslim terrorism links denied Panama entry

A Canadian man with alleged ties to terrorist organizations has been barred from entering Panama and returned to Canada.

According to Panama’s National Migration Service, the detection occurred during verification procedures.

Trump says there are no talks between US and Iran

President Donald Trump shot down any indication that the United States is negotiating with Iran after the 60-day memorandum of understanding expired this week.

“There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the president wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. “The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated.”

Carney’s final chance to convince Trump as US-Canada trade deadline looms

“Intense” trade talks are going down to the wire as Canada seeks to avoid a fresh round of tariffs from the Trump administration due to come into effect on Wednesday.

Canadian negotiators have been camped out in Washington for a week, trying to pin down some agreement before new 50% tariffs on some $20bn (C$28bn) worth of Canadian imports are imposed.

Prime Minister Mark Carney kept details of the talks close to his chest when pressed by reporters on Monday, saying that given the “very delicate and intense” negotiations, it is “not the time to negotiate in public”.

It’s Crunchtime Again for Canada to Avoid New U.S. Tariffs

Canada is bracing for a U.S. tariff deadline arriving at midnight on Tuesday, when a number of new levies by the Trump administration will come into effect unless negotiators strike an 11th-hour deal.

The United States’ trade representative, Jamieson Greer, who is heading the talks for the U.S. side, said last week that the negotiators were reviewing options and that he expected Canada to drop certain measures it had already taken in response to U.S. tariffs.

House public safety committee to hold special meeting on accused NATO spy

OTTAWA — The House of Commons public safety committee will meet Monday to decide whether to investigate potential security screening failures, after a Canadian woman was arrested in Belgium for allegedly spying on NATO.

On July 25, Belgian authorities announced the arrest of a “Canadian national of Chinese origin” on suspicion of spying for a third country while working as an intern at NATO’s central military headquarters in southern Belgium. The suspect was subsequently identified as Biwei “Claire” Zhang, a computer science and systems engineering graduate in her early 30s who’d previously held positions at multiple Canadian federal agencies.
