For the cover of its first-ever full-blown “Men’s Style Issue,” New York magazine decided to feature the transgender actor Elliot (née Ellen) Page. This certainly comes as no surprise to anyone who remembers that the Left-wing, Mamdani-loving outlet once did a cover story fantasizing about men wearing high heels for the fall season. It also will come as no surprise to anyone who is aware that, in the current zeitgeist, straight masculinity is out and nonbinary gender disorders are in. This is all by design, of course.

Speaking at a White House event marking U.S. Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, Trump said that the U.S. was “so stupidly run” in the past because it “allowed” automakers to make cars for the U.S. in other countries, including Canada.

It’s now nearly nine weeks since tens of thousands of migrants poured across the Moroccan frontier into Ceuta. Most quickly returned to Morocco. But estimates of how many are still in Spain’s tiny North African exclave, which has a population of just 83,000, have varied alarmingly. At one point Madrid said that “only” about 5,000 remained. Government sources now accept that around 20,000 were still in Ceuta after July 30; last week Ángel Víctor Torres, the minister in charge of the crisis, put the current figure at around 18,000.

A proposed pipeline carrying one million barrels of oil a day from Alberta to the B.C. coast has become the first project designated in the national interest, the federal and Alberta governments have announced.

Listing the West Coast Pacific Link oil pipeline on Schedule 1 of the Building Canada Act means the federal government has moved from considering whether it should be built to how it will be built by fast-tracking and consolidating the approval process, including environmental assessments.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee convened a meeting examining the threat that “rogue” AI may pose to U.S. national security two months after a swarm of OpenAI agents broke out of a testing sandbox and hacked another company, Hugging Face, an open-source community for AI and machine learning.

During questions, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) asked Apollo Research CEO and founder Marius Hobbhahn how long it would take for AI models to create their own language that humans would struggle to understand.

“Minus 12 months. So last year, we have studied the chain of thought of one OpenAI model in collaboration with OpenAI, and what we found was that the model was already using language that is not English and not perfectly understandable by humans,” he replied.

High-speed rail costs could reach $113 billion, 25% more than estimated for slush fund, PBO warns

OTTAWA — A new report by Ottawa’s fiscal watchdog warns that the planned high-speed rail project from Toronto to Quebec city could cost as much as 25 per cent more than the Carney government’s highest estimates.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) estimated in a report released Thursday that the project’s costs would run between $75-billion and $113-billion, compared to the government’s estimated range of $60 billion to $90 billion. The upper end of the PBO’s estimated range is 25.6 per cent higher than the government’s.
