Climate mitigation doesn’t help today’s victims of bad weather

When politicians like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and B.C. Premier John Horgan link natural disasters such as massive flooding to addressing climate change, it’s important to understand they are not talking about preventing these disasters for the foreseeable future.

The climate we have now will be the climate we have for decades to come, even if we were miraculously able to stop emitting all industrial greenhouse gases today, which would be impossible to do.

China Prepared to Launch Hostilities Against India Along Disputed Himalayan Border

Chinese missile-laden bombers flew over a contested border area with India recently, following the breakdown of bilateral talks between Indian and Chinese regional military commanders.

The near-simultaneity of the collapse of military negotiations and the threatening fly-over by People’s Liberation Army Air Force bombers underscores China’s willingness to punish India for having resisted Beijing’s territorial claims and aggression in the region.

China’s aggressive stance may also be, in part, motivated by Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping’s testing of the U.S. effort to develop strategic cooperation among America’s Pacific allies in order to curb Chinese expansionist policies. China is most likely also attempting to weaken the resolve of the non-U.S. countries of the so-called Quad — India, Australia and Japan — to rely on American promises to defend them.

Bulk of college tuition in Ontario comes from international students resulting in serious financial risk says Auditor-General

Ontario’s reliance on international students to fund its colleges poses serious financial risks to the postsecondary system, the province’s Auditor-General says.

International students, who make up about 30 per cent of the student body at Ontario’s 24 colleges, provide 68 per cent of all tuition revenue. Their fees alone were worth $1.7-billion last year, more than the colleges received in provincial grants. The majority of international students, 62 per cent, came from one country: India.

FBI Warns California Genetics Company Likely Shares Americans’ Health Data With China

The FBI says a genetics testing company with tens of millions of dollars in federal contracts is most likely providing Americans’ health data to China.

The agency told Los Angeles County officials last week it had obtained “very concerning information” about Fulgent Genetics, a California-based firm founded by Chinese-American billionaire Ming Hsieh. Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva said the FBI warned him and other county officials that Fulgent likely shares the health data it collects with the Chinese government.

Science museum bows to trans criticism

The Science Museum in London has agreed to alter an exhibit on human biology and sex characteristics after receiving complaints over a perceived lack of transgender representation and its “non-inclusive narrative.”

Museum authorities confirmed that the exhibit, titled ‘Boy or Girl?’, is currently under review to “take into account new scientific and curatorial research and visitor feedback.” The exhibit apparently covers subjects such as hormones and chromosomes and asks, “How are boys and girls different?”

Vatican Secretary of State Denounces E.U. Attempt to ‘Cancel’ Christmas

ROME — Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin has denounced a European Union communication manual barring the use of “Merry Christmas” in favor of “Happy Holidays,” Vatican News reported this week.

“Europe owes its existence and identity to many contributions, but it certainly cannot be forgotten that one of the main contributions, if not the main one, was Christianity itself,” Cardinal Parolin said. “Therefore, destroying the difference and destroying the roots means destroying the person.”

TORONTO — Canada’s plan to require novel coronavirus tests for all but U.S. arrivals on international flights risks causing “chaos” and long lines if all passengers are expected to get tested at airports, industry groups said.

The move, announced Tuesday, comes as the travel season kicks into gear and could stretch airport resources as well as testing holiday-makers’ patience, they said.

Extinction Rebellions threatens to blow up pipelines, kill politicians

If you’re not familiar with David Takayoshi Suzuki, he’s a Canadian television presenter who focuses on climate change and other environmental issues. In fact, he’s frequently referred to as the “Godfather of the Canadian environmental movement.” He’s found himself in a bit of hot water, however, following a speech he gave at a rally held by the eco-terrorism group Extinction Rebellion.

Why America’s rush to EVs might kill the entire Canadian auto parts business

“This discriminatory action” could be the “death knell” of the Canadian auto industry. So says Flavio Volpe, and he should know, since he’s the president of the Auto Parts Manufacturers’ Association of Canada, the organization tasked with, amongst other things, enticing automakers and their associated suppliers to build their production plants here in the Great White North.

Justin’s handlers are secretly happy about this.

GOLDSTEIN: Bank of Canada, Trudeau government, fuel inflation — report

Current policies of the Bank of Canada and the Trudeau government could increase and prolong Canada’s annual inflation rate — now at 4.7% and already at its highest level in 18 years — according to a new study by the Fraser Institute.

“If central banks want to ensure that today’s higher inflation rate is transitory, they need to stop injecting unprecedented amounts of money into the economy and return to a more measured monetary policy,” said Steven Globerman, professor emeritus at Western Washington University and co-author of the report, The Outlook for Inflation and Its Links to Monetary Policy.

China’s disinformation campaign against Canada’s election is undeniable

It’s been more than two months since the September 20 federal election and the verdict is in. Not the verdict that put Justin Trudeau’s Liberals back in power with fewer votes than Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives, but the expert consensus that a disinformation operation hatched in Beijing was in operation during the campaign, and its target was primarily Chinese-Canadians.

BLM mob accuses white NYC woman, 52, of being the ‘new Kyle Rittenhouse’ after she sent 50 of them flying across Third Avenue when they ‘attacked her car’ during 2020 protests: She rejects six-day community service plea deal and demands TRIAL

A white NYC woman who plowed her BMW through 50 Manhattan BLM protestors last year has refused a plea deal and will now stand trial, even as protesters call her a female Kyle Rittenhouse.

Kathleen Casillo, 53, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday after she was accused of driving into the pedestrians during the protest at the intersection of 39th Street and Third Avenue on December 11, 2020.

Casillo, of Howard Beach, Queens, has claimed the demonstrators had come up to her car and called her ‘a white privilege b**ch’ before banging on the vehicle. She told police at the time she had panicked and hit the gas as they started banging on the car and trying to pry open its doors.
