Flooding, drought and wildfires caused by climate change could do as much damage to our planet as a giant asteroid or massive volcanic eruption, experts warn

Earth’s most famous mass extinction event was the giant asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago.

But although it was severe, obliterating some 76 per cent of the world’s species, there have been two other more devastating near apocalypses throughout our planet’s 4.5 billion-year history and five in total.

MailOnline looks into these different catastrophic events, from the ‘Great Dying’ to the Kellwasser cataclysm, and asks scientists what is most likely to cause a sixth, where it would leave us and if such a scenario is already under way.

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau’s 2022 climate plan — more carbon taxes

The forecast for climate change in Canada for 2022 is higher carbon taxes for Canadians and little progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which is what carbon taxes are supposed to do.

Grocery prices to keep soaring in 2022

Canadian grocery bills have been growing steadily throughout the past year, and experts say that won’t change in 2022. In fact, a typical family could be stuck spending nearly $1,000 more just to put food on the table.

“The average family of four, we’re expecting the food bill to go up by as much as $966,” said Dr. Sylvain Charlebois, Sr. Director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University.

“It’s going to be tight for a lot of families, unfortunately.”

Why Not COVID Antibodies or Previous Infection?

Why are liberals immune to medical and scientific evidence that’s staring them in the face?

As the Supreme Court considers the unconstitutional overreach of the Biden OSHA mandate forcibly vaccinating Americans, it might also consider the common-sense alternatives. These are obvious options pursued by countries and organizations that follow science and haven’t lost their minds in a mass bout of vax psychosis, as we have here in America, especially our liberals.

Germany’s New Government: Business as Usual with China

Germany’s new chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has had his first telephone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Scholz, who succeeded Angela Merkel as chancellor on December 8, pledged to strengthen economic ties with China, but he failed to mention human rights or the destruction of democracy in Hong Kong.

The telephone call will disappoint those who had hoped that Germany’s new government — a three-way coalition consisting of the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), the environmentalist Greens and the pro-business Free Democrats (FDP) — would break with the past and take distance from Merkel’s policy of appeasing dictators and sacrificing human rights on the altar of financial gain.

Jobless Canadians who refuse to get vaccinated for COVID-19 could be shut out of unemployment benefits, warns Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough.

Speaking to Canadian Press, Qualtrough said as long as there’s a public health emergency, unvaccinated workers who lose hours or their job may not be eligible for employment insurance benefits.

Trudeau calls the unvaccinated racist and misogynistic extremists

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a Quebec television station people who do not get vaccinated against COVID-19 are often racist and misogynistic extremists.

But he said the people of Quebec are not the problem and questioned whether the rest of Canada needs to “tolerate” the unvaccinated.

Progressives are monsters.

As Canadians enter year three of COVID-19, a significant proportion appear apprehensive about returning to mass public transit and other pre-pandemic “normal” activities.

Biden’s call with Putin produced predictably underwhelming results

As was reported yesterday, President Joe Biden took a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin where the two leaders discussed the situation on Russia’s border with Ukraine, among other matters. Despite the best efforts of the State Department to put some positive spin on the discussion, it doesn’t sound as if things went very well. Both sides wound up sticking to their previous positions and Putin sounded increasingly frustrated and belligerent over what he perceives as NATO’s stubborn refusal to comply with his demands.
