OTTAWA – A senior executive with Public Safety Canada says federal officials have ramped up their monitoring of Tehran’s threats against members of the Iranian diaspora in Canada.
Sébastien Aubertin-Giguère, who oversees Canada’s response to foreign interference, says Iran and other countries have intensified their pressure tactics targeting their critics abroad.

OTTAWA — Canada’s financial intelligence agency will report Thursday that extortion is soaring, with a growing number of those crimes committed against Canadians of Indian or south Asian descent by criminal organizations with direct ties to that region.
In a new report obtained by National Post, the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) said extortion cases have increased more than sixfold over the first four months of 2026. The agency’s report said it has already logged more extortion cases so far this year than the previous two years combined, part of a dramatic increase in financial crimes in Canada over the last few years.
Last year, on the 13th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, an unconstitutional program he had conjured into existence by executive fiat, Barack Obama was singing its praises.
“DACA was an example of how we can be a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws,” Obama said. “And it’s an example worth remembering today, when families with similar backgrounds who just want to live, work, and support their communities, are being demonized and treated as enemies.”

Certain Bible passages will be effectively banned as “hate speech” if C-9 passes in the Senate.

The Prime Minister paradoxically used the feast day of England’s patron saint to simultaneously insist “unity” is key while ranting about Englishmen he feels betray the multicultural project.
Thursday is Saint George’s Day, a feast commemorating the day of the execution of the warrior saint and Christian martyr who through ancient Royal involvement in the Crusades and veneration of his example latterly became the national day of England. The St. George’s Cross and banner also became the symbol and later of England, albeit by a slightly different route as a maritime flag of convenience.
The headline from the CBC made it sound like the Trump administration was engaged in a street-level shakedown of their closest ally and neighbour.

I am 100% for sure going to hell for enjoying this New York Times article as much as I am. There but for the grace of God go I, I remind myself. But then, I would never have put myself in that position, devoting my professional life to making six figures off the taxpayer to work on “nice-to-haves” rather than creating actual, useful products that must survive in the marketplace.
Anyhoo, the article that is bringing me so much guilty pleasure is entitled “A Year After U.S.A.I.D.’s Death, Fired Workers Find Few Jobs and Much Loss.” The subtitle tells the tale: “People have plowed through savings, cashed out retirement funds and moved in with relatives. Former U.S.A.I.D. workers estimate that less than half have found full-time work.” Why, it’s almost as if no one would hire them to ply their trade, so they must force taxpayers to subsidize it.

I was on active duty in the Navy in 1979 when the mullahs replaced the Shah and started their special Islamic revolution. A conspiracy theory suggesting a nefarious connection between the deaths, murders and disappearances of at least 10 individuals with ties to the U.S. scientific community has found its way to Washington and become the focus of a multi-agency investigation.
