The 2026 State of Tipping in Canada Report, commissioned by hospitality company Actual, shows that, across the board, Canadians are tipping less and less often.
“Sixty-seven percent of tipped workers say the amount they receive in tips has decreased over the past two years,” the report reads.
On one of my rare outings if I’m asked to tip for picking up my own take out order I just don’t go back.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today about U.S. President Donald Trump’s new diesel fuel supply agreement with Russia.
The Prime Minister’s Office says the two leaders discussed the new agreement for Russia to supply millions of tonnes of diesel fuel to the United States, which Trump announced on Friday.
The PMO says Carney made clear this agreement runs against the efforts of Canada and its allies to end the war in Europe by providing Russia with new revenue.

So the federal government, through its Public Safety Canada department, emerged the other day with a report on what it described as a progress summary on its “commitments to combat antisemitism” in the country that it came up with over the summer.

The name Zion is biblical — it is the name of a specific mountain in Jerusalem adjacent to the site of the ancient Temples. It also is used in the Bible and in post-Biblical literature to refer variously to the site of the Temple, to Jerusalem, and to the Holy Land in general.
You’d think a municipal ward with the name “Toronto Centre” would be the last electoral district to turn its back on a left-wing incumbent. Downtown Toronto is perceived to be as left-leaning as you can get and with good reason.
But every voter has their breaking point, and it looks like a lot of downtown residents have hit theirs. The council race now unfolding in this ward is in many ways a battle for the very heart of the city itself.
