Star Triggered: We have one good reason to thank the infuriating, undiplomatic U.S. ambassador to Canada

When people talk about being “diplomatic” they usually mean something along the lines of being tactful, sensitive, of smoothing over difficult issues.

In that sense Donald Trump’s top diplomat in this country, U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra, must be the least diplomatic guy around.

If he’d set out deliberately to inflame Canadian opinion, Hoekstra couldn’t be doing a better job of it. He’s been going on about how “disappointed” he is that Canadians have their backs up in the face of Trump’s tariffs and hostile rhetoric and lamenting the “anti-American” tone of the federal election campaign. When it comes to blatant insults like all that “51st state” talk, his advice has been blunt: “Get over it.”

FBI fires agents who kneeled during George Floyd “social justice” farce

The FBI has fired agents who were photographed kneeling during a racial justice protest in Washington DC that followed the 2020 murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, three people familiar with the matter told the Associated Press on Friday.

The bureau last spring had reassigned the agents but has since fired them, said the people, who insisted on anonymity to discuss personnel matters with the AP.

The number of FBI employees terminated was not immediately clear, but two people said it was roughly 20.

Facing global isolation at UN, a defiant Netanyahu says Israel ‘must finish the job’ against Hamas

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Surrounded by critics and protesters at the United Nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told fellow world leaders on Friday that his nation “must finish the job” against Hamas in Gaza, giving a defiant speech despite growing international isolation over his refusal to end the devastating war. “Western leaders may have buckled under the pressure,” he said. “And I guarantee you one thing: Israel won’t.”

Netanyahu’s speech, aimed as much at his increasingly divided domestic audience as the global one, began after dozens of delegates from multiple nations walked out of the U.N. General Assembly hall en masse Friday as he began.

Netanyahu is right. There is no point trying to appease Israel’s enemies.

They could withdraw from Gaza even all of Israel and the Muslims with their useful idiot allies would still murder them.

Supreme Court Allows Trump to Slash Foreign Aid

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the Trump administration to withhold $4 billion in foreign aid that had been appropriated by Congress in a major test of Mr. Trump’s efforts to wrest the power of the purse from the legislature.

In its brief order, the court’s conservative majority said the president’s ability to conduct foreign affairs appeared “to outweigh the potential harm” faced by foreign aid recipients. The court cautioned that its decision, technically a temporary holding while litigation continues through the lower courts, “should not be read as a final determination on the merits.”

Jamie Sarkonak: The CBC’s anti-Trump bias distorts Tylenol reporting

It was not controversial for news outlets like CBC to report in 2016, and later 2021, on new medical research raising concerns about the impact of Tylenol use on pregnancy and fetal development. But in 2025, those studies (among others) have become the basis for a new cautionary approach by the U.S. government that critics and media are trying to debunk.
