Langley woman had alerted RCMP about threats from blog linked to Colombian murder
When Brittani Russell contacted Langley RCMP last year about a crime blogger posting veiled threats against her, she expected it would get taken seriously.
Instead, the officer who came to her home last December suggested she just ignore the posts on the Dirty Newz’s website and social media accounts, Russell said Thursday.
Since learning this week that the site’s founder allegedly conspired with an international crime group to get a witness killed in Colombia, she realizes how at risk she was.
The seized blog is The Dirty Newz portions of which are still available via the Wayback Machine.

Ukrainian teen saboteurs recruited on Telegram to attack their own country
In July this year a 17-year-old travelled 500 miles from his home in eastern Ukraine to collect a bomb and a phone hidden in a park in the western city of Rivne.
He says he was promised $2,000 (£1,520) to plant the bomb in a van used by Ukraine’s military conscription service.
“When I was connecting the wires, I thought it could explode then. I thought I might die,” he told the BBC.
Vlad is one of hundreds of children and older teenagers who the Ukrainian government alleges have been recruited online by Russia, and offered payment to carry out sabotage and other attacks against their own country. His name has been changed to protect his anonymity.

BBC investigated by US watchdog for ‘misleading and deceptive’ Trump edit
The BBC is being investigated by the broadcast regulator in the US over its “misleading and deceptive conduct” in editing a Donald Trump speech.
Brendan Carr, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, wrote to executives at the BBC and to two American broadcasters on Wednesday to find out whether the report was aired in the US.
He spells out how the Panorama programme spliced together parts of a speech that were separated by 54 minutes.

Free speech documentary cancelled by London cinema
A London cinema has banned a documentary about free speech because it does not “align with our values and mission”.
Think Before You Post was due to play at Rich Mix in east London on November 25, followed by a Q&A session with contributors, before its producers were informed that the venue had decided against hosting the event.
Tom Slater, the editor of Spiked magazine, the libertarian publication behind the film, said he was sadly not surprised by the decision.
Report reveals how much Canadians paying for groceries thanks to food inflation
Food inflation continues to top Canadians’ financial concerns, according to the fall 2025 edition of the Canadian Food Sentiment Index by Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab (AAL), and they’re adapting their diets and shopping behaviours as a result.
The AAL based the bi-annual report on Purdue University’s Consumer Food Insights survey of Americans. The Canadian Food Sentiment Index measures the perceptions and views of roughly 3,000 respondents across the country on issues ranging from food affordability and spending to consumer beliefs and trust.
Son of Barry and Honey Sherman moves to oust fellow estate trustees
The son of billionaire murder victims Barry and Honey Sherman has gone to court to remove his fellow trustees from control of part of his late parents’ estate, citing “breach of trust.”
In documents filed in Superior Court, Jonathon Sherman seeks to remove the two other trustees from control of a multimillion-dollar trust set up by his late father in 2016, the year before he was murdered. Jonathon states that his reasons are “grounded in alleged breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duty and failure to act in the best interests of the beneficiaries.”

As a Catholic, I’ve always thought the argument about women priests was a waste of time. There aren’t going to be any, given Catholic Church doctrine. The Vatican is lately stringing the wokester women of the Church along on maybe deacons, but that’s settled, too, the answer will be ‘no.’ It’s hardly something to get upset about. Being a priest is just a role, and it doesn’t give anyone an express route to Heaven if they don’t behave. Why fuss about different roles played and insist on changing tradition which dates back to the Apostles when the idea is to just get to Heaven?
