Left-wing activists stage nationwide shoplifting spree

Left-wing activists have started a shoplifting spree across Britain in protest against “billionaires hoarding wealth”.

Members of Take Back Power, which is viewed as the successor to Just Stop Oil, stole food from supermarkets in four cities on Saturday morning and donated it to food banks.

The activists claimed “liberating” produce from the branches of Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Tesco was “non-violent action to resist the super-rich”.

What we’ve lost (10): A normal life

Ben Woodfinden: Canada has failed its younger generations, which no longer have the opportunity to live the life that their parents did

In the 2024 World Happiness Report, Canadians over 60 ranked eighth in the world. Canadians under 30 ranked 58th. Happiness is, of course, subjective and hard to measure, but the gap between a country that still works for one generation and has completely failed another points to a broken social contract.

Why has the US targeted Iran’s Kharg Island?

Donald Trump has said the US military has bombed a small island off the coast of Iran – home to a major oil terminal that is considered the country’s economic lifeline.

The US president said Kharg Island’s military facilities were “totally obliterated” but that it had held off targeting its oil infrastructure.

Trump, however, warned that he would reconsider the decision not to target oil facilities on the island should Iran or others “do anything to interfere” with the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz – one of the world’s most important shipping channels, located south of Iran’s coast.

The UK’s collapse to Islam is accelerating

News broke the other day that Winston Churchill’s image will be removed from the United Kingdom’s banknotes.  (American Thinker’s Andrea Widburg did a splendid job covering that and all its implications here.)

Evidently flora and fauna are less “controversial” so we will see flowers and hedgehogs on their currency instead.  That’ll work until the institutional left finds something objectionable about flowers and hedgehogs, but here we are.

Of course, any nation is free to redesign its currency at will, but this choice is consistent with the U.K.’s recent string of decisions to willingly, even lustily accelerate their own civilizational erasure.

Transparency watchdog blasts ‘shocking’ Ontario plan to hide premier cellphone records

Ontario’s transparency watchdog says the Ford government’s planned overhaul of freedom of information laws is a “shocking” proposal designed to hide the premier’s cellphone records from the public.

New policy announced by the government on Friday morning will retroactively block the release of communications from the premier, government ministers, parliamentary assistants or their staff through access to information requests.

Can the Oscars leave its woke era behind?

This year’s Oscars feel oddly bloodless. Not because there are no good films in the race, but because the ceremony increasingly resembles a formality. As far as the acting awards go, Michael B Jordan looks like a well-deserved shoo-in for best actor, and Jessie Buckley seems nailed on for best actress. Even more contested categories like Best Picture feel like a foregone conclusion. We all suspect that One Battle After Another is going to sweep up the awards. There is no sense that there is a genuine competition going on here.
