They were still drafting that recommendation on Saturday 25 July, when the 21-year-old drove a white van into the closing party of Christopher Street Day, a part of Berlin’s Pride season, a few hundred yards from the Brandenburg Gate. He killed one person and injured 29 others, and then proceeded to set about the survivors with a machete.

Sexual predator, 35, who was deported after raping woman, 18, is caught living in Essex after sneaking back into the UK

A sexual predator who was deported after raping an 18-year-old has been caught living in Essex after sneaking back onto British soil.

Blerim Hajdarmataj, who was working as a cleaner, launched a twisted attack on the girl after a chance meeting at a Chelmsford bar in September 2014.

The 35-year-old invited the young woman back to his home, and although she initially refused, she woke the following day in his bed.

It’s hard for publications to lose these cases. The bar for proving malice is sky-high. And if you’re a public figure, forget about it. Well, for the first time in over 50 years, The New York Times will have to fork over potentially millions of dollars over a 2023 piece about a shooting involving basketball players from the University of Alabama that left a 23-year-old woman dead. Of course, the Times, bloated by ego, stood by its reporting. They were wrong, issuing an editor’s note. The piece details the whole saga, including the reporter’s error and the behind-the-scenes moves to verify the information. The thing is, the victim, Kai Spears, wasn’t near the shooting and wasn’t involved. One thing that seems lost in the piece is a) the ever-degrading value of anonymous sources and b) that they ran with this based on one source.

‘You’re at war when you get attacked,’ Carney says after trade talks collapse

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney said he walked away from a “bad deal” with the United States and that Canada is now “at war” after being “attacked” by steep tariffs on $29 billion worth of Canadian goods going south of the border.

“We were attacked. You’re at war when you get attacked. We got attacked,” Carney told reporters gather in the West Block foyer on Parliament Hill.

The problem is we’ll be the collateral damage for General Carney’s folly.

Arrest warrant issued for Quebec man charged in alleged visa fraud scheme

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 42-year-old Montreal man facing five charges after a Canada Border Services Agency investigation alleged he helped dozens of people obtain visas through fraud and facilitated their entry into Canada.

The CBSA said Friday that proceedings against Abul Kasim were initiated at the Montreal courthouse on July 28.

Canada didn’t chicken out. We did the right thing

In the end, Canada and the United States didn’t get a trade deal. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter.

Yes, a deal would have prevented further economic woes imposed on Canada in the short run. But what matters is that the Carney government didn’t give in to the Trump administration’s economic coercion.

Our right to suffer the Laurentian Elite’s economic coercion has been preserved!

Iran: What Next?

The main focus in confronting Iran’s regime and its sponsorship of terrorism has shifted toward economic sanctions and a naval blockade of Iranian ports. This pressure, driving oil exports to multi-year lows and squeezing the regime’s primary source of hard currency, constrains the resources available for ballistic missiles, proxies, and internal repression. Yet it is a dangerous delusion to believe that sanctions and blockade by themselves will change the regime’s fundamentalist and Islamist ideology or force a fundamental shift in its behavior.

The Iranian regime’s only objective is to stay in power beyond the Trump Administration.
