Carney rode into power in 2025 on a wave of manufactured Canadian nationalism, casting himself as the last line of defense against American economic influence — “elbows up,” as the slogan goes. Strip away the branding, though, and you find a man deeply, personally enmeshed in the very country he’s built his entire political persona around opposing. Grade-one hypocrisy, dressed up in a maple leaf.

Why Is the Trump Administration Determined to Arm Hostile Jihadist States That Will Outlast It?

An institution built around one person, such as the US President Donald J. Trump, carries the expiration date of that person’s term in office. The states that join it do not.

Nothing better explains the conduct of Turkey, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia over the past eight months — and nothing in current American policy appears to be taking the countless danger signals from them seriously.

The real plan, as can be seen from Saudi Arabia’s recent moves, seems to be to avoid joining the Abraham Accords, and instead position themselves in Gaza, right on the border of Israel, to be able to attack it after Trump leaves office. No one will have his determination to make sure that any agreements are enforced.

If U.S. President Donald J. Trump was upset about Premier Doug Ford telling him to “kiss” his behind, there’s no telling how he may react to an Ontario judge saying the man charged in shooting up the American consulate in downtown Toronto does not have to sit in jail and is free to wait at home until his trial.

Canada’s justice system needs no incentive from Trump to make an ass of itself.

Abdul El-Sayed apologizes for comment about Michigan synagogue attack

Michigan’s Democratic US senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed apologized to the state’s Jewish Democratic Caucus on Saturday for comments he made after an attack on a synagogue in March, which he tied to Israel’s actions in the Middle East.

“My comments may have been misconstrued to justify something I did not mean to justify,” El-Sayed told reporters after he addressed the caucus at a party convention in Lansing. “To anyone who feels like my comments might have been hurtful, I’m really sorry. That was not my intention.”

Immigrant groups say racism rising in Alberta as referendum looms

“One person said, ‘Hey, someone should plow into them.’ Another person is saying, ‘Please check their ID, arrest, deport,’” she said.

Jamal, the co-founder of the Calgary Immigrant Support Society — a group first created more than a decade ago to help Syrian refugees settle into life in Calgary — has lived in Alberta for almost 30 years.

Jamal should blame the people who brought her cult to Canada.

Reportedly designed for “Littoral Warfare” like the U.S. Navy is currently fighting in the Strait of Hormuz, they are in fact not suitable for either “littoral” or broad ocean area warfare.

Milo Yiannopoulos Deported Back to Britain Following ICE Arrest

British political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported from the United States to his native UK following an arrest this week by ICE.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesman told NBC News on Saturday that Yiannopoulos had been removed from the country one day after being arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Friday.

Statistics Canada reported Friday that the Canadian economy grew by 3.3% on an annualized basis in the second quarter (April to June) of this year, its best performance since 2023 and highest in the G7.

The federal agency also revised an earlier finding that the economy contracted by 0.1% in the first quarter (January to March) to a 0.3% increase.

New Ipsos research suggests that support for Canada’s position on trade is more conditional than the government’s current defiant stance may suggest.

For older Canadians and for those who can afford it, sovereignty is something they have the means to fight for. For younger Canadians and those with lower incomes, their finances take precedence. President Donald Trump on Saturday posted an apparently AI-generated video depicting an army of buff, bequiffed and heavily-armed “Donald Ducks” patrolling the shores of “Lake America.”

Hours later, while he was at his Virginia golf course, the president posted another AI-generated video, this time showing himself knocking over a “Welcome to Lake Ontario” sign and installing a “Welcome to Lake America” one in its place. He then dances to the Village People’s “YMCA.”

I’ve been in hospitals around the world. Canada was the only place I slept in a hallway

When I woke up one morning in early July, I had no idea that day would end with me parked in a hospital bed in a hallway at Royal University Hospital (RUH) in Saskatoon, hearing the screams of other patients.

Of course, I had heard stories about the decline of health care and wait times in hospitals in Canada and in Saskatchewan. Stories about people spending days waiting for care in hospital hallways seemed unreal most of the time, because they weren’t happening to me — that is, until it was.

We are dying as a people and a state.

Google maps changes Lake Ontario to ‘Lake America’ for U.S. users

People using Google Maps in the U.S. will see Lake America – but the rest of the world will still see Lake Ontario.

On Saturday, Google Maps announced that the update was made after U.S. Geographic Names Information Systems (GNIS) formally made the name change.

In a blog post, it stated that updates are made to reflect names changes in official government sources.
