Following Joe Biden’s belated withdrawal from the presidential race, the onslaught of felching flattery about his heroically sacrificial character and his administration’s astonishing, unprecedented, better-than-FDR-scale accomplishments began within minutes. From the Democratic party’s grand poohbahs and their lickspittles in the media, this fawning admiration is intended to compensate for having done nothing but insult, undermine, and leak against the President for three weeks. Now his detractors are suddenly Biden’s greatest fans. But don’t expect smarmy, unctuous if subtly guilt-ridden bootlicking from this columnist.

By the beginning of 2024, the Democrats had settled on a simple strategy to retain control of the Presidency and the Senate while regaining a majority in the House of Representatives. The most important element of the plan was to work with corporate media to assure that the electorate remained focused on the purported threat to our democracy™ presented by former President Trump and his “extremist MAGA” supporters.

This would permit President Biden and other Democrats seeking reelection to avoid pesky questions about inflation, the border crisis, rampant crime rates and dangerous conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Their strategy collapsed on June 27.

There is an addendum to the Democrats’ ‘we only like you when you’re dead’ rule. Let’s call it the Biden Collaroy because after subjecting this man to the proverbial death by a thousand cuts, plus stabbing him like Caesar, politically speaking, and then driving him over with a tank, the president finally called it quit. With fundraising stagnant, Hill Democrats in revolt, and top Democrats working behind the scenes to derail him while recovering from COVID, Joey decided to throw in the towel.

Joe Biden’s not-surprising decision to withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Campaign has left the Democrats in a pickle. Democrat Party rules require the convention to proceed as planned. Depending upon the state, Biden’s committed delegates may be required to vote for him on one or more ballots. There will be the chance for all kinds of shenanigans, which would have been impossible if Biden had waited until after the convention to withdraw. Making it all the more fun is that the shenanigans will be public, and the butthurt among the losers will be epic.

The sudden withdrawal of US President Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential race has left the Democratic Party scrambling to regain its footing.
