Many vice presidents have gone on to win the presidency, but only after they left office. Only George H.W. Bush in 1988 was able to win the presidency running as a vice president. Before Bush, the last sitting vice president to win the presidency was Martin Van Buren in 1836.

Many of us have been alarmed at the deterioration of the United States’ foreign relations with our allies under the tenure of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Our relationship with Israel has been strained to near the breaking point and our European allies seem to be unsure of how much they can rely on us. Taiwan is constantly looking over its shoulder, wary of a sudden attack by mainland China and what we might do about it in response. Now we can add another country to the list and it’s one much closer to home.

Under Tim Walz, Minnesota Banned Christians From Teaching In Public Schools

Effective July 2025, teacher licensing rules passed last year in Minnesota under Democrat Gov. Tim Walz will ban practicing Christians, Jews, and Muslims from teaching in public schools. Walz is now the presidential running mate of current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. His resume includes a stint as a high school social studies teacher who sponsored a student queer sex club in 1999.

Starting next July, Minnesota agencies controlled by Walz appointees will require teacher license applicants to affirm transgenderism and race Marxism. Without a teaching license, individuals cannot work in Minnesota public schools, nor in the private schools that require such licenses.

Chinese government hackers penetrate U.S. internet providers to spy

Chinese government-backed hackers have penetrated deep into U.S. internet service providers in recent months to spy on their users, according to people familiar with the ongoing American response and private security researchers.

The unusually aggressive and sophisticated attacks include access to at least two major providers with millions of customers as well as to several smaller providers, people familiar with the separate campaigns said.

“It is business as usual now for China, but that is dramatically stepped up from where it used to be. It is an order of magnitude worse,” said Brandon Wales, who until earlier this month was executive director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, CISA.

In a recent national poll, more than half of responding Americans believe that China is deliberately exporting fentanyl to the United States for the purpose of harming, or even destabilizing our nation.

Were that true, some might reasonably describe that strategy as an act of war.

For China, it would be historic payback time.

Having lost a generation, a nation, and an empire to opium introduced by Imperial Britain during the 1800s, no one knows better than the Chinese that a drug scourge can bring a country literally to its knees.

Robert F Kennedy Jr’s brother ‘heartbroken’ over Trump endorsement

Max Kennedy, the brother of Robert F Kennedy Jr, has implored the public to ignore his sibling’s decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential election and endorse Donald Trump’s campaign to return to the White House.

In an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, Max Kennedy said “Trump was exactly the kind of arrogant, entitled bully” that his father, former US senator and attorney general Robert F Kennedy, stood against before he was assassinated in 1968 as he pursued the Democratic presidential nomination.

Max Kennedy predicted his father would have admired the Democratic nominee for November’s election, Vice-President Kamala Harris, because she was a former prosecutor as well.

US accuses software firm of driving rent hikes

The US has sued a leading software company that collects and sells rental data, accusing it of subverting competition between landlords and feeding the country’s housing crisis.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has claimed RealPage‘s software algorithm meant rival landlords were sharing what would otherwise be private information, allegedly allowing them to illegally co-ordinate and raise rents.

“Everybody knows the rent is too damn high and we allege this is one of the reasons why,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said at a press conference announcing the lawsuit.

U.S. wants Canada to hit military spending target ‘as rapidly as humanly possible’: Biden’s adviser

Canada and other countries that are laggards when it comes to military spending should hit the NATO-imposed target of spending two per cent of GDP “as rapidly as humanly possible,” U.S. President Joe Biden’s national security adviser told reporters on the sidelines of the Liberal cabinet retreat in Halifax on Sunday.

Asked by CBC News if he’s satisfied with Canada’s recently announced plan to hit that spending target in eight years’ time, Jake Sullivan said the Biden administration has pushed NATO countries to meet the spending threshold, and while some have complied, “there is still a set of countries that hasn’t — Canada is one of them.”
