Why RFK Jr. wants Canada to pardon 400 ostriches

OTTAWA — The fate of nearly 400 Canadian ostriches, which Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is trying to save, now rests with federal justices in Ottawa.

As the controversial case makes its way through court, members of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, right-wing influencers and a Republican megadonor are urging the Liberal government to spare the ostriches that were exposed to bird flu.

Jeffrey Epstein was an intelligence asset—Eric Weinstein

Sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was a “product of one or more elements of the intelligence community,” Eric Weinstein, the mathematician and a former managing director of Thiel Capital, said during an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast, hosted by Steven Bartlett.

Weinstein, who said he had met Epstein, described him as “certainly was not a financier in any standard sense. That was a cover story.”

Trump ‘not encouraging killing’ by asking if Zelensky could bomb Moscow

President Trump mentioned possible Ukrainian strikes on Moscow to President Zelensky before he approved US arms supplies, but he was “not encouraging further killing”, the White House has said.

His spokeswoman was responding to media reports that he had asked Zelensky why Kyiv’s forces had not hit Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia’s biggest and richest cities.

“Volodymyr, can you hit Moscow? Can you hit St Petersburg too?” Trump had asked, according to the Financial Times, which cited sources familiar with the call. “Absolutely. We can if you give us the weapons,” Zelensky replied.

VANCOUVER — A senior Indo-Canadian gangster from an ultra-violent British Columbia–based fentanyl trafficking gang with ties to Latin cartels, Chinese Triads, and Hezbollah was taken down in a stunning U.S. government sting that saw a thick-accented Chinese narco casually promise an undercover agent at a Vancouver café that he could ship 100 kilograms of fentanyl precursors per month from Vancouver to Los Angeles, using his trucking company fronted by an Indo-Canadian associate.

Minneapolis Mayoral Candidate Says Somalia Is His ‘Home

A candidate running for mayor of Minneapolis has called Somalia his “home” despite being born in America and running for American office.

Omar Fateh, a current Minnesota state senator and mayoral candidate, was born in Washington, D.C., to Somali immigrants. Yet, during his state Senate campaign, he repeatedly referred to Somalia as his “home.”

The Conditions at Alligator Alcatraz are Breakin’ My Heart!

Alligators refused to eat her

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-FL (I can’t help but remember how Rush Limbaugh used to call her “Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz”), has been railing about the “inhumane” conditions at “Alligator Alcatraz”: e.g., the detainees have to use jailhouse toilets which combine sink and toilet in one stainless steel unit, and there are “insects everywhere.”

Is it Okay to Love the America of No Cliterodectomies? And no Fatwas?

I left my California idyll, and soared into milky, hazy US skies.

I touched down to change planes in Minneapolis, which I recalled as having been the corn-fed, friendly Midwest.

I saw that now, almost everyone employed by the airlines, as well as everyone working as ground crew, was of Somali descent, or were recent arrivals from Somalia.

America’s Biggest Rare-Earth Producer Makes a Play to End China’s Dominance

FORT WORTH—At an industrial site in this Texas city, men dressed in head-to-toe protective gear dip giant ladles into a well of molten metal heated to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. They’re making something the U.S. has hardly, if ever, produced at commercial scale in recent decades: rare-earth metals.

The factory is the most visible mark of MP Materials’ high-stakes, billion-dollar bet that an American company can take on China’s dominance over the metals—and the magnets they power in everything from cars and smartphones to missile systems.

In recent months, China has used its chokehold over 90% of the world’s rare-earth magnets to cut off access to Western companies, rattling industrial giants such as Ford and Tesla and forcing the U.S. to the table for trade talks.

Carney says a U.S. trade deal without some tariffs is unlikely

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday U.S. President Donald Trump seems wedded to tariffs and any trade deal with the Americans may include accepting some levies on exports.

Speaking to reporters ahead of a cabinet meeting on Parliament Hill about the trade war, Carney said in French that all of Trump’s trade agreements to this point have included some tariffs.

He said “there’s not a lot of evidence right now” that the U.S. is willing to cut a deal without some tariffs included.

Trump says 35% tariff letter sent to Carney is ‘the deal’

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the letters he sent to Prime Minister Mark Carney and other leaders about new tariff rates are “the deals”, as Carney prepares to meet with his cabinet on tariffs and the trade negotiations.

Trump appeared to be losing patience with his administration’s efforts to make trade deals with nations around the world. The president has been sending letters to trading partners, including Canada, threatening to impose higher tariff rates on Aug. 1. The letter addressed to Carney last week said Canada would be hit with 35 per cent tariffs but the White House later said it would not include goods compliant with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade.

‘Not our war’ – Trump’s Nato weapons deal for Ukraine sparks MAGA anger

Some conservative members of Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement have reacted angrily to the president’s plans to sell weapons to Nato, arguing it is a betrayal of his promise to end US involvement in foreign wars.

On Monday, Trump said he would send weapons to Ukraine via Nato, while also threatening Russia with more tariffs if a deal to end the war is not reached in 50 days.

Republican Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene, a key Trump ally, and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon are among those who have criticised the decision, with Bannon telling his podcast listeners that Ukraine is a “European war”.

Amy Hamm: Canada’s sluggish criminal trials don’t take fentanyl trafficking seriously

U.S. President Donald Trump said fentanyl was his reason for slapping a 35 per cent tariff on our country, to take effect on Aug. 1. Whether that was a fair excuse or not, Canada is indeed doing an abysmal job of dealing with crime, including drug trafficking.

In June, a judge on the Supreme Court of British Columbia granted a stay of proceedings in the case of Margaret Rose Conrad, who was tried for illegally possessing a conducted energy weapon (possibly a Taser), along with various controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. She racked up eight charges in total.
