Why woke culture wants you to be fat

Being a ‘fat activist’ is a thing now

Americans are fat and getting fatter. “More than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or have obesity,” reports Heathline.com. The CDC (I actually trust them on this one) says that between 1999 and 2020, “obesity prevalence increased from 30.5 percent to 41.9 percent,” and severe obesity “increased from 4.7 percent to 9.2 percent.”

And so, in the wake of woke, Old Navy and other clothing companies are (trying to) cash-in on our widening waistlines by disguising their latest capitalistic campaign as “inclusive sizing.”

The cultural imperialism of taking the knee

Those Hungarian schoolkids were right to boo this paternalistic Western gesture.

It’s only June and already we’ve had the funniest news story of the year. Following some iffy behaviour by Hungarian football fans during Euro 2020, UEFA instructed Hungary to play its next few games behind closed doors. No crowds, no fans, no noise – this was to be Hungary’s punishment. But Hungary, in its clash with England in Budapest on Saturday, exploited a UEFA loophole to allow 30,000 schoolkids to attend the game. After all, what kind of trouble could a few thousand fresh-faced under-14s cause? Well, a lot, it turns out. As soon as the England players took the knee – as they’re still robotically doing, more than two years after George Floyd was murdered 4,000 miles away from England – a chorus of boos filled the stadium. It was an extraordinary noise: an army of children registering their disdain for the puffed-up performative virtue of 11 adults from overseas.

Wokeness, the Highest Stage of Managerialism

Well-educated progressives wield institutional power to impose a new political and social order.

It can be easy to forget how new our political and culture-war conflicts are. Ten years ago, critical race theory was something you’d encounter only online or in academic settings, Democratic politicians were still talking about civil unions for homosexual couples, and the media and federal government were busy pointing out how far America had come in repairing the broken race relations of the past. Today, little remains of that old order. Just how fast has this transformation unfolded? Consider a simple measure of how frequently the word “racism” appears in the nation’s four largest newspapers: after staying basically constant from the 1970s to 2010, its usage explodes around 2012, with the Washington Post and the New York Times leading the charge.

Woke was made for grifters.

Furious parents rally at Virginia middle school as board suggests punishing children for ‘malicious misgendering’ and ‘deadnaming’ if they use trans classmates’ old names

A chorus of furious parents rallied at a Virginia school last night in protest over proposed changes to rules that include punishing children for ‘maliciously misgendering’ their trans classmates if they accidentally refer to them by their old names.

The Fairfax County school board is still deliberating whether or not to implement the punishments for kids at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church, Virginia.

It would make ‘deadnaming’ – the act of referring to a trans person with the name they used before they transitioned – a suspendible offense.

The board is also deliberating mixing boys and girls in sex education classes.

Parents say it is ‘too much too young’ and that some of the materials they are being shown are ‘pornographic’.

At a meeting in Virginia last week, the parents held up signs that read ‘concerned parents are ‘not terrorists’ and ‘we the parents have had enough’.

NASCAR Wishes Fans A ‘Happy Pride Month’ And ‘Acknowledges’ That Recent Actions Don’t Line Up With Its Mission To Be A ‘Welcoming Sport For All’

While the organization did not directly address what those recent actions were, some speculated that it could be connected to Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott’s appearance as the “honorary” starter for the May 22 All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Canada’s military a ‘broken system’ that’s a ‘liability’ to the country, report finds

The top ranks of the Canadian Armed Forces are “incapable” of recognizing the “deficient” parts of a culture that keep sexual misconduct and abuse of power entrenched, according to a blistering new report.

That highly anticipated report into the culture of the Canadian Forces from former Supreme Court of Canada Justice Louise Arbour was released on Monday, exactly one year after the review formally began in May 2021.

It’s time CAF cedes more control to civilian authorities on sexual offences: Arbour

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has been “unwilling” and “unable” to embrace action on military sexual harassment and assault and it’s time the body cedes more control to civilian authorities, former Supreme Court Justice Louise Arbour says.

In her highly-anticipated review of the cultural crisis within the military and recommendations for a path forward, Arbour says tackling this issue requires a major rejig of existing structures, and minimizing the monopoly the CAF has over its members by tapping into the services of external institutions as it relates to prosecuting members for sexual offences.

Military should give up control of sexual assault cases permanently: former Supreme Court justice

The time has come for the Canadian Armed Forces to permanently give up control of investigations of sexual offences by its members, says a major new report by a former Supreme Court justice.

Concluding more than a year of work, Louise Arbour today released her much-anticipated report on the military’s sexual misconduct crisis. It recommends, among other things, that civilian police and courts handle all sexual assault cases involving allegations against military members.

“As challenging as it is, this organization must demonstrate enough humility to accept external help and open itself to the outside world,” wrote Arbour in the roughly 400-page report.

Woke Corporations Really Hate Diversity Of Thought, New ‘Viewpoint Diversity Score’ Reveals

Corporate America does not like the First Amendment, according to a new business index released on Thursday.

How did those 50 companies score? Not particularly well, according to the project’s business index. The firms averaged 12% on “respecting religious and ideological diversity in the market, workplace, and public square.”

Rex Murphy: Bravo to Ricky Gervais for standing up to wokeism

Is it possible that the puerility of the so-called woke movement is finally meeting the dismissive rejection and scorn it deserves?

Up to now it has had a pretty free flow, with the exception of a few brave souls on university campuses or in our schools taking lonely stands, and in most cases being harassed, called ugly names, or even pushed out of their professions.

Ricky Gervais has broken the spell of wokeness

The trans ideology cannot survive mockery or scrutiny.

In his new Netflix stand-up special, Ricky Gervais tells jokes about trans people, AIDS and Hitler. You can probably guess which he is in trouble for.

In SuperNature, released last night, Gervais jokes that he is fed up with ‘old-fashioned women’ – that is, ‘the ones with wombs’. You know, those ‘fucking dinosaurs’ and ‘fucking TERF whores’ who worry about women’s spaces, their privacy and their safety. He says he now much prefers the ‘new women’, with their beards and penises, who he says are ‘as good as gold’.

We Aren’t Raising Adults. We Are Breeding Very Excellent Sheep.

Our elite college graduates know how to imitate, but they don’t know how to be independent.

I taught English at Yale University for ten years. I had some vivid, idiosyncratic students—people who went on to write novels, devote themselves to their church, or just wander the world for a few years. But mostly I taught what one of them herself called “excellent sheep.”

These students were excellent, technically speaking. They were smart, focused, and ferociously hard-working.

But they were also sheep: stunted in their sense of purpose, waiting meekly for direction, frequently anxious and lost.
