Mayor Olivia Chow has condemned a protest outside a downtown Toronto location of an Israeli coffee chain.
Hundreds of protesters with Palestinian flags gathered at University Avenue and Adelaide Street on Saturday. In videos posted to social media, protesters can be heard yelling “Zionist cafe” and chanting “boycott” outside Café Landwer’s University Avenue location.
She had to condemn “Islamophobia” of course.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday was asked about rising antisemitism, and her response was to talk about “disproportionate” hate crimes against Muslims.

A teenage Iranian girl who fell into a coma after an alleged altercation with morality police is now considered to be “brain dead”, state media say.
Armita Geravand, 16, collapsed after boarding a Tehran metro train on 1 October.
Activists accused morality police of assaulting her for not wearing a hijab, but authorities insisted she fainted.
There was no immediate confirmation of Armita’s condition from her parents or activists.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced calls for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas during an unannounced visit to a Toronto-area mosque on Friday.
“Shame on you. How many more Palestinian children need to be slaughtered?” a woman in the crowd is heard telling Trudeau outside the mosque. “How many more before you call for a ceasefire?”
In a video provided to CBC News by a community member in attendance, Trudeau is seen inside the International Muslims Organization (IMO) Mosque in Etobicoke, Ont., trying to speak to the crowd. At one point, a man is heard yelling “Shame.” Another man is heard asking Trudeau, “Do you condemn Israel?”
