Accused kidnappers seek bail days after man was found bound, beaten in abandoned Orillia building
The five men accused of kidnapping and brutally beating a man found inside an abandoned building in downtown Orillia, Ont., over the weekend appeared in court as they seek bail hearings.
Provincial Police in Orillia were called to a former gas station along Colborne Street East and Peter Street at about 9 p.m. on Saturday following reports of suspicious activity involving masked suspects.

Popeyes franchisee loses restaurants after employees raise alarm about unpaid wages
Fast-food conglomerate Restaurant Brands International Inc. has terminated franchisee agreements with the owner of 13 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen locations, after employees raised allegations of unpaid wages.
Irfan Memon is no longer a Popeyes franchisee, spokesperson Emily Ciantra wrote in a statement to The Globe and Mail on Monday. Restaurant Brands is working with other franchisees to take over those locations, all of which are in and around the Greater Toronto Area, she added. The restaurants have been temporarily closed since Friday night.

Khalistani extremist Inderjit Singh Gosal arrested in Canada on firearms charges
Canadian authorities have arrested Inderjit Singh Gosal, a 36-year-old prominent organizer for the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group and close aide to designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, on multiple charges related to the possession of unlicensed firearms.
The arrest took place in Ottawa on September 22. Gosal, a resident of Brampton, Ontario, was arrested by the Peel Police along with two associates while traveling from Brampton to Ottawa, for possession of unlicensed firearms. All three individuals remain in custody and are expected to face formal charges and possible jail time.

The savage murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, took place almost three weeks ago. It has, alas, only recently been acknowledged by the mainstream media. The CCTV footage, widely circulated via social media, is chilling for so many reasons—not least of which is the fact that the killer, DeCarlos Brown Jr, is oft-depicted hovering ghoul-like behind the unsuspecting Iryna as she casually checks her phone. There could be no finer meme juxtaposing the evil stalking the West and the innocence of those picking up the tab.

Liberals spend $500,000 to boost diversity in trucking industry
The federal government is spending $500,000 on a project aimed at making Canada’s trucking industry more diverse and inclusive.
The funding, announced Friday during National Trucking Week by Jobs and Families Minister Patty Hajdu, will go to Trucking HR Canada through Ottawa’s Workplace Opportunities: Removing Barriers to Equity (WORBE) program.

Five men have been charged with aiding in the breakout from jail of organized crime figure Rabih (Robby) Alkhalil three years ago.
The RCMP said it cannot confirm media reports that Alkhalil, 38, was arrested Friday in Qatar — more than three years after he walked out the front door of a B.C. jail while serving time for murdering a GTA man on a crowded patio on College Street.
Also known as “Robby,” Alkhalil is a leader of the Wolfpack Alliance, a confederation of crime groups heavily involved in cocaine importation with some members linked to the Hells Angels.

Fugitive B.C. killer Robby Alkhalil arrested in Qatar
More than three years after he escaped from a Port Coquitlam jail, fugitive gang killer Rabih (Robby) Alkhalil has been arrested in Qatar.
Several sources confirmed Saturday that the wanted Wolfpack gangster had been picked up by local authorities on Friday. The RCMP declined to comment.
