It seems the Tories would rather chew up their leaders after one failure than give them the chance to grow into their skin.

Erin O’Toole is now being vetted more than he was when he was running for the leadership of the Conservatives, and he is now being accused of “betraying” the pack by becoming more centrist and giving short shrift to the core Conservatives whose right-wing ideals made him a little too uncomfortable.

I think they are better off keeping O’Toole. The shift to the left he initiated for the party is likely here to stay. That’s good news for the PPC.

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole’s strategy to broaden the Tory base did not achieve the breakthrough he sought, so it is time for a deep rethink.

Every progressive, and most of the mainstream commentariat, endlessly proclaim that the only road to victory for Conservatives is to embrace the values and policies of the centre-left. In their view, the Conservatives had no hope of winning unless O’Toole adopted all the revered shibboleths and politically correct strictures of the Liberal elite.

I suspect the CPC is happy with their current course left. You might hear a few actual conservative statements etc from them from time to time but rest assured they’ll recant the minute they can.

Conservatives lock down member database as challenge to Erin O’Toole’s leadership grows

OTTAWA–The Conservative party has locked its MPs and candidates out of its central voter database in a move that critics say is an attempt by Erin O’Toole to protect his leadership.

Multiple sources told the Star that O’Toole’s team had denied them access on Wednesday morning to the party’s Constituent Information Management System (CIMS), its database of supporters and party members.

The move temporarily blocks their ability to get into the central reservoir of data that Conservatives depend on to identify, contact and rally voters.
