Many Canadians found a safe financial haven with CERB and other support payments during the early years of the pandemic. But the federal government workforce’s almost unchecked expansion has not been matched by higher quality services or improved attention to citizen’s needs.

Government application and reporting systems have turned into expensive slogs, while reporting on outcomes has declined dramatically. Approval processes for mines and major infrastructure projects deter all but the most determined companies. The country is an outlier on oil and gas production; African nations are urging major investments, while Canada does its best to keep this energy in the ground, at great cost to its treasuries.

OTTAWA — Benefits rolled out at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic allowed vulnerable Canadians to stay healthy while maintaining an income, but business supports were excessive and show the outsized influence of business groups on public policy, economists say.

Just Liberals looking after their own, and now they’re erasing Canada and shafting the common man via mass immigration at their corporate cronies demand.

The United People of Canada, a new organization now operating out of a historic former church in downtown Ottawa, is very keen to talk about last winter’s so-called “Freedom Convoy.”

It is so keen, in fact, that TUPOC (as it calls itself) has booked two whole weeks of discussion to take place in August, in something billed as “The Freedom Convoy: A Community Conversation.”

Jamie Sarkonak: Some are more equal than others, according to Canada’s immigration ministry

In a corporate plan for an anti-racist “systems change,” Canada’s immigration ministry says it isn’t fair to treat people equally regardless of background. Instead, people should be treated according to their level of innate privilege.

In other words, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has embraced critical race theory — or diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), as it’s called in practice — with a plan called Anti-Racism Strategy 2.0. It openly signals a shift to the ideological left.

The criminally insane are running the asylum.

Rex Murphy: Jagmeet Singh’s perplexing support for a government he seems to despise

It’s better than most soap operas — the turbulent on-again, off-again mutual support society of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and his consort, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Yet it gets increasingly difficult to make sense of Singh’s daily Twitter tirades against Trudeau’s Liberals. A secondary perplexity is the absence of any equally fiery volleys from Trudeau. Is there such a thing as a “one-way” war? If so, it is a very curious matter. For it amounts to one side verbally shelling the other on a quite consistent basis — the other side staying mute under said fire — and then both meeting up for dinner and a chat, friendly words all round, and Mr. Singh restating, “Hey, don’t mind the noise, I’ve got your back till 2025.”

There are a lot of very dumb people in the NDP.

Where have all the workers gone? Don’t blame COVID, economists say

“… We are losing people who are trained as early childhood educators because we won’t pay them more than we pay pet groomers. Well why would they stay if they can get a better job in some other sector?”

That’s borne out by Statistics Canada data showing the reservation wage — the minimum hourly rate at which job seekers are willing to accept a position — surpassing the current offered wage in nearly every sector, whereas Canadian workers have historically been willing to settle for less.

Economists believe there are other possible outcomes — increasing automation to fill the vacuum left by the labour shortage, for one. Some industries could also bring in more temporary foreign workers to help fill gaps at the lower end of the labour market, potentially blunting the gains made by domestic workers.”

The article is  LPC propaganda offering the carrot of possibly increased wages for working people.

We all know the Trudeau government has chosen record mass immigration regardless of “fit” to make up the numbers the corporate welfare class needs to depress wages.

Even Ford is jumping on the open flood-gate bandwagon.

The article is contradicted by the Liberal Party’s own 2022 budget document: Douglas Todd: Why Canadian wages never seem to go up

 The downplayed chart, one tiny aspect of the 304-page document, serves as a warning that individual Canadians, compared to the citizens of 39 other economically advanced countries, will in the next decades likely suffer the lowest real growth in their wages.

The House of Commons standing committee on public safety will be hearing from RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair, as well as current and former top RCMP officials from Nova Scotia.

When I survey the current roster of those who have been empowered to govern Canada, it is hard to avoid the onset of severe depression. None are serious people, none even remotely competent, all are driven by the ideological drivel of the day, and they are to a man and woman decoupled from the ordinary folk who make — or made — this country run.

Moreover, beginning with the prime minister and descending to the least member of cabinet, these are people who seem to have no idea what real work and economic survival consist of. Passing legislation on climate change, health policies, agriculture, energy, and supply-and-manufacturing sectors that almost inevitably tend to harm the prospects of the actual people affected while the legislators themselves are protected from the ravages of their virtue comprises the trademark of the parasitic class, which disqualifies the present bunch from serving in their official capacity. (It is only fair to mention parenthetically an astronaut and a hockey goaltender, but neither now serves in cabinet, and neither was especially distinguished.)

Action: Seventeen Canadian Liquified Natural Gas projects that would have eliminated the need for Germany to import Russian gas were stymied by impossible-to-meet government rules that required emissions resulting from their construction and operation be “net zero.” The Canadian government’s delusionary “net zero” target also drives policies that stymie exports from this country’s oil reserves, the third largest in the world.

Consequences: Germany faces the Hobson’s choice of continuing to fund Russia’s brutal invasion or face disastrous natural gas shortages. Russia becomes the world oil market’s “swing producer.” Oil prices skyrocket, raising the cost of transportation for both industry and individuals. Inflation wreaks havoc across the globe.

Those whose essential travel document expired within the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic are now facing a harsh new reality when it comes to getting a renewed passport. Long lines, camping overnight outside passport offices, desperation, tears, flared tempers and the occasional fist fight.

That is if they weren’t willing to pony up hundreds of dollars, at a rate of $25 to $50 per hour, to pay someone to wait in line at the passport office for them.

But they’ll all get pay raises and increased benefits at your expense. Our politicians and predatory civil service unions have created a new ruling class.  They hate us.

OTTAWA — Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said the federal government is absolutely concerned about inflation, but dismissed critics who called her callous and out of touch for suggesting the high cost of gas is a reminder of why we need to transition to greener energy solutions.

The Liberals are fanatics.

They are more than willing to sacrifice the economic well being, health and welfare of you and your family to their green-scam masters.

They will of course be comfortably cushioned from the new world order’s harsh realities.

They are no different than the people who ran the Gulags.

Stalin may as well be their mentor – “a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic.”

Because that’s what you are to them a nameless number on a list.

When you’re convinced of doing the “Lord’s Work” there is no depravity too great.

Our government is censoring us, and with Bill C-11 it will get worse

The recent contretemps between the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and Radio-Canada about the use of the n-word during a radio segment reminds us that the CRTC is all about the control of speech. Usually, the commission farms out its censorship to a specialized agency, but this time it did the dirty work itself. Two commissioners dissented, arguing that the CRTC was engaging in censorship without regard to the right to freedom of expression set forth in the Constitution.
