It’s a war that’s underway everywhere, all the time. It’s being waged by Beijing and Moscow. It’s a hybrid war that confounds western intelligence agencies and transcends borders. Like conventional warfare, it involves mobilizations and sophisticated operations and devastating weaponry that lays waste to entire industries.
I imagine Mark Carney was something of an autocrat even in the cradle, issuing directives and insulting subordinates from the earliest age. “Yeah, I’m not feeling this WubbaNub. Got any others?” “This is not a helpful suggestion. Go back and rework it to a different nap time.”
Certainly his has been a lifetime spent in preparation for, or the active enjoyment of, executive power: Harvard. Oxford. Goldman Sachs. As governor of the Bank of Canada, he would have been used to making all the final decisions, in consultation with a small group of senior advisers.

It is patently unfair that the Carney government has announced plans to bail out condo developers in British Columbia, without even a mention of the struggling venture capitalists in Ontario, the hedge fund managers in Quebec, and the corporate CEOs in Alberta.
Do they not have mouths to feed on their private yachts? Are they not also feeling pressure at the pumps (it’s not like you can put regular unleaded in a McLaren)? And what of the telco giants, who are struggling with sluggish growth and investment opportunities? Where is their billion dollars?
It’s good to see the Elbow people get what they voted for.
I cannot take any more of Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry’s public romance. Yes, I know that by writing about it I am only drawing more attention to the matter — but please allow me to indulge in some catharsis, here. I’m certain that swathes of us Canadians are feeling the same revulsion towards the pair’s very public displays of affection, which include Trudeau staring Perry down like a famished tiger. (Shudder.)

OTTAWA — Canada is cleared to participate in the Eurovision song contest after CBC/Radio-Canada became a full member of the European Broadcasting Union on Thursday.
In last fall’s federal budget, the government said it was looking at getting Canada into the popular international song contest.
Eurovision, which has been running for decades, features performers from various countries and is co-ordinated by the European Broadcasting Union.

WELLINGTON — When news reports first tumbled out about the “unmarked graves” of 215 youngsters that were said to have been found at the former Kamloops residential school in British Columbia, the story ricocheted far beyond Canada.
Here in New Zealand, which is about as geographically far-flung as you can get, the still-unconfirmed details landed with understandable force.
Small wonder. In 2021, this nation of 5.3 million was in the throes of a royal commission of inquiry into the historical abuse of children in state care, many of them Māori, with much of the attention given to the same era.
VANCOUVER — A national plan to absorb Canada’s unsold condos is unfolding in two very different shapes — one already called a bailout by some analysts but drawing little of the outrage, the other announced last week by Mark Carney and instantly setting the public on fire. Two cities, more than 4,400 unsold condos held on the books of wealthy private companies, both outcomes hard to predict — but Vancouver’s is already being cast by critics as a handout to well-connected Liberal insiders.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney said a deal on CUSMA will ultimately happen between him and U.S. President Donald Trump, despite teams of negotiators on both sides working through trade issues.
“Ultimately… a breakthrough, if you will, on this will…be at that level,” Carney told reporters on Thursday, in answer to a question about whether a deal will ultimately be secured at the leadership level of both countries.

I recall a lot of anti-trans tweets many involving the number of mass shooters and violence in general found among that “community” and the concerns many have with grooming children to think it’s normal.
It’s a weird mania that while fading world wide remains well entrenched in Canada.
It is still pushed upon their own children by the so called elites.
Trans kids are a fashion statement of progressive values in that crowd.
OTTAWA — Broadcasters and online streaming giants will still have to pay a fee to support Canadian media production despite the Carney government’s declaration it would reverse course on the so-called “Netflix tax,” the Star has learned.
