Living in their greatly favoured land, Canadians often seem all too ready to forget the great events that let them develop and prosper in freedom. Many even fail to remember that young Canadian men and women played a major role in the greatest seaborne invasion of all time, the Allied assault on Normandy on June 6, 1944, and in the long, wearying struggle that followed in the Norman countryside.
My Dad landed on June 6th and here I am today a senior citizen in a very battered and bruised nation nearly vanquished by an invasion orchestrated from within.
Canada has an antisemitism problem, but listening to our politicians, government agencies and some in the media, it’s easy to get the impression that no one really knows where the hatred is coming from or who is committing attacks against Jews.

Controversial Pickering councillor Lisa Robinson has announced she will run in the fall election for the mayor’s seat in the city east of Toronto.
“This campaign is not powered by insiders; it is powered by you, the people, and when ordinary people stand together, nothing is stronger,” Robinson said Sunday. “So, if you believe Pickering deserves honest leadership, if you believe taxpayers deserve respect, if you believe questions should never be punished then stand with me.”
Are Canadians less adventurous than they once were? It’s hard to argue otherwise.

The United States should open the door. It should offer asylum to Canadian Jews.

Food Banks Canada says Canada’s employment insurance no longer serves the broader and shifting workforce as more people take up gig work or part-time jobs.

The Alberta government has considered three different pipeline routes through northern British Columbia for a new major oil export pipeline, according to documents obtained by CBC News which provide a first glimpse into where the project could be located.
Several ports on the northern coast are highlighted as options, according to the documents, which were shown to local community leaders during private consultations on the proposed project this spring.
The provincial government is also exploring the idea of a fourth route through southern B.C. and a port in the Vancouver area.
