The migrant hotel protests are different this time

I’ve had a busy couple of weeks, tracking the recent anti-asylum hotel protests across the country, from Epping to Canary Wharf, from Norwich all the way down to the south coast in Waterlooville, I’ve been right in the thick of the story that is gripping the country.

Last year, I was in the middle of another news story too, when I covered the outbreak of the violence at Southport that then spread out into what, quite frankly, ended up being race riots. I remember being only a few yards away from police vans loudly beeping out their last breath as they burnt down to the ground, while young lads on the opposite side of me threw bricks and other missiles directly at a mosque, and proceeded to smash up a local corner shop. Later on I was subject to violence from the crowd myself.

Spain dismantles smuggling ring moving migrants to Canada with fake passports: police

Spanish police say they have dismantled a criminal network that facilitated illegal entry into Canada and the U.K. using forged passports and travel documents.

In a press release by Spain’s National Police, the smuggling operation primarily targeted Yemeni nationals and involved more than 40 migration attempts.

The network allegedly charged each migrant up to C$4,400.

Spain – Beachgoers tackle illegal alien invaders

Migrants attempting to land on a beach in Spain were tackled to the ground by locals and tourists before being taken into custody by police.

Footage showed 13 men diving off a boat and swimming to the shore, where they were immediately met with fierce resistance from beachgoers in a tourist town in Andalusia, in the south of the country.

The incident took place at Sotillo beach in Castell de Ferro on Sunday afternoon.

Dozens of asylum seekers intercepted crossing into Quebec from U.S. in back of truck

Three alleged smugglers and 44 asylum seekers attempting to enter Canada from the U.S. were intercepted in Stanstead, Que., by the RCMP overnight Sunday.

With the help of provincial police, authorities arrested the asylum seekers, who were travelling in a truck, near Haskell Road. Some of them included children. RCMP brought the asylum seekers to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) office in Stanstead, according to CBSA east border district director Miguel Bégin.

… Bégin said most of the migrants were transferred to the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle regional processing centre, where they are being screened for their eligibility for asylum in Canada.

There is no reason for them to be eligible for asylum in Canada.

Yet the Labour government—much like the Conservative administration that preceded it—continually refuses to take decisive action, opting instead to tinker around the edges of the issue at hand.

Ministers said on Saturday they are preparing new plans which would see those who advertise Channel crossings or fake passports on social media face up to five years in prison. A nice side measure, perhaps, but nowhere near significant enough to effect any change on its own.

For Orlando Gutierrez in Kansas City, the thought of cancelling his community’s summer Colombian Independence Day festival first surfaced “the week after the inauguration” in January, “when the raids started happening”. The decision was rooted in “trying to be safe”, Gutierrez said. “We’re not talking about folks that are irregular in terms of their immigration status. You only have to look a certain way and speak a certain language and then you’re in danger.”

For decades prior to 2025, the event had gone on interrupted – “in rain, in extreme heat” – and hosted thousands of Colombians and non-Colombians alike, Gutierrez said. “Our mission is to share our culture with people that don’t know it,” he added. “To not have the opportunity – that’s where it hurts the most.”

They’re upset that illegal alien invaders won’t be able to attend festivals.

The offence, which the government is seeking to create under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill currently going through Parliament, would form part of a crackdown on the number of migrants coming to the UK on small boats.

Assisting illegal immigration to the UK is already a crime, but officials believe the offence would give police and other agencies more power to disrupt criminal gangs.

According to official documents obtained by German investigative portal Nius, the employment center approved monthly payments of €6,733.83 from June to November 2025, with an increase to €6,814.83 starting in January 2026. Of this amount, approximately €5,100 is earmarked for Fördern und Wohnen, the city-owned social enterprise that runs the refugee accommodation where the family currently resides.
