At around eight on Saturday evening a friend called and told me to switch on Sky News to watch its coverage of the demonstration in Dover, where more than 100 men – dressed in black and wearing balaclavas – could be seen marching through the streets to protest against illegal migration, the only sound an occasional chant of ‘Stop the boats’.

As it happens, I had already seen the footage she was referring to but I was shocked by her reaction to it: ‘At last, someone is finally speaking out for us.’

The reason I was taken aback is that she’s a mum of three in her fifties who runs her own successful hair salon – someone I’d never describe as a Right-wing head banger, or a racist, or any of the other terms the Left uses to condemn anyone who supports such protests.

A teenager has recalled the terrifying moment she was dragged into the woods and raped by a Nigerian migrant who dodged deportation because it would ‘breach his human rights’.

Gift Oladele, 24, targeted the 19-year-old as she walked home on an isolated footpath in Wrexham, Wales, after a night out on September 7 last year.

The teenager has now revealed that after the attack, Oladele said to her: ‘I think you’ve had enough now. At least you have been raped by someone good-looking.’

Thousands of asylum seekers are making bogus claims in an attempt to stay in Britain involving shared partners, VIP connections and generic political dissident scripts.

Hundreds of Iraqi Kurds have allegedly tried to claim asylum because they are all apparently in a relationship with the same daughter of the Kurdish prime minister.

Scores of Pakistani men also suggest they cannot go home because they are in a gay relationship with the same man, who provides letters supporting their claims.

What happened in Portsmouth last night was extraordinary. Citizens waded into the bitter sea to try to prevent the arrival of foreign men who were all but ferried in by the authorities. Ordinary people stepped up as reluctant, unpaid border guards while actual border guards rolled out the red carpet for a hundred blokes from heaven knows where. Everyday Brits stood vigil over our shores while the state threw those shores open to all-comers.

How do we even define this? What do we call it? The media has reached for that small, familiar word “protest”, as if this were a mere outburst of public anger over government policy. It was so much more than that. This was ordinary men and women stepping into the breach left by the state’s desertion of our borders. It was working-class self-organisation in defence of our national sovereignty. It is unprecedented.

Danny Tommo walked straight up to Zia Yusuf in Portsmouth, on camera, and said what a lot of working people have been thinking.

Hundreds of demonstrators descended on Portsmouth after migrants heading towards the Hampshire coast on a small boat were intercepted and brought ashore.

Around 140 migrants are believed to have disembarked near Eastney in Portsmouth, and will be taken to Manston immigration centre in Kent for processing.

There was a certain inevitability about what happened in Dover on Saturday. Several hundred protesters, many masked, blocked roads around the port, traffic backed up, the police arrived and engaged with them and, after a few hours, everyone went home. No arrests were made. The immediate temptation is to treat this as another example of the disruptive protest which has become familiar in Britain over the past decade, except this time coming from the Right rather than the Left. There is some truth in that, although it misses the more interesting point. What happened at Dover was a reaction, in both senses of that rather unfashionable word, and it has been a very long time coming.

For at least the past 20 years, Britain’s political and cultural elites have claimed that immigration has been nothing but a blessing for the nation. They claim it grows the economy. That it makes Britain as a society less insular and more diverse. That it has moral as well as economic benefits.

Among vast swathes of the British public, however, a very different view has taken hold. They have experienced the reality of our increasingly porous borders. They have seen how the importation of cheap labour, far from growing the economy in real (per capita) terms, has merely suppressed wages. They have seen how immigration-fuelled population growth has put even more pressure on struggling public services. And they have witnessed what ‘diversity’ means in practice – the creation of religious and ethnic enclaves, riven with anti-Semitism and intolerance.

Exactly like Canada.

There has been major disruption at the Port of Dover due to a large group of masked men holding a demonstration.

Hundreds of protesters, dressed in black and wearing face coverings, blocked roads and were heard chanting “stop the boats”.

Traffic was stopped from going in and out of the port, with the government saying it condemned “the behaviour in Dover and the travel disruption it has caused”.

Dover right now.

They walked straight through.

No permission asked. No press release. No kneeling.

Just a wall of men in black moving past the police vans while Dover port sits dead.

This is not a protest anymore. This is a shutdown.
