Lori Lightfoot’s Lament

She and other Democrat mayors and DA’s apparently expect the feds to save their cities from the crime surge they’ve made possible.

Pennsylvania Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon is one of the congressional Dems who sponsored the Mental Health Justice Act. The bill would give incentives to police departments to replace emergency responders with mental health professionals to respond to crimes with individuals who have “behavioral” issues.

Scanlon was carjacked at gunpoint and, because she wasn’t injured, we can say it’s poetic (and political) justice.

Scanlon is typical of the Democrats who have tried (and in places succeeded) in defunding the police. Those people tolerate — and thus encourage — criminal behavior.

Shutuppery, How The Left Deals With Diverse Viewpoints: “Deplatform White Parents”

Stacey wrote an excellent piece on the leftists’ fascist trend toward shutuppery.  In short, and as Andrew Klaven insightfully notes, since today’s left has lunged into anti- and un-American ideology and policy that the American people resoundingly reject, the “transformational” left has become completely intolerant of any challenge to their radical, destructive, racist, and economy-destroying policies.

As Joe “I am the Democratic Party” Biden flails and fails at literally everything, as their commie BBB boondoggle crashes and burns (thank you, Joe Manchin), and as American voters from indies to Hispanics reject the radical Democrat agenda, you can just see the long, silent scream and feel the foot stompy, pudgy fist pounding “shutup, shutup, shutup” from the emotionally-stunted,  incessantly angsty, perpetual teenagers of the radical left.

Why Is China Training Military Officers Around the World?

Four centuries after being occupied by the British, Barbados recently became a republic, renouncing Queen Elizabeth II in the process. Time to rejoice. Well, not quite. As Barbados cuts ties with Britain, it becomes closer with Beijing.

In 2019, shortly before the pandemic brought the world to a screeching halt, the governments of Barbados and China signed an agreement to jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The author Robert Hardman, commenting on the deal, warned the Barbadians that there is “no such thing as a free lunch.” A significant price, in other words, must be paid. By signing a deal with Beijing, a country essentially enters into a Faustian bargain, trading the keys to the house for a few nice roads and buildings. Sadly, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, seems oblivious to this fact.

Yesterday’s Treaty and Tomorrow’s Threats

Is the world on the eve of a new arms race that could spread nuclear weapons to a dozen or more countries within the next few years?

This is one of the questions that haunt the next Review Conference of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).

Twice postponed because of the Covid-19 crisis, the conference which, under the NPT, should be held once every 10 years, is now scheduled for January 4-28 in New York.

Nostradamus predictions for 2022: cannibals, robots and the rise of cryptocurrency

As the year comes to a close, the news is getting grimmer, folks — at least according to the prophecies of long-dead, divining daddy Nostradamus. The French-plague doctor, astrologer and seer published his famed and widely quoted book “Les Prophéties” in 1555. Chock full of poetic predictions, the book foretells the coming of wars, natural disasters, assassinations, nuclear attacks and revolutions.

Hunt for Gaddafi’s $100 Billion Fortune Reaches New York

The search for deceased Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s rumored $100 billion illicit fortune has hit the Big Apple.

An application filed by the Libyan government in Manhattan federal court seeks records from eight major banks related to Gaddafi’s finances “in what could become the largest international asset recovery effort of all time,” according to attorneys involved in the matter.

More than $100 billion was allegedly stolen by Gaddafi during his time as Libya’s ruler from 1969 to 2011, when he was overthrown by U.S.-supported rebels.

Why are some people with Omicron testing negative for COVID?

Imagine attending a Christmas or New Year’s party, learning the next day that someone there had COVID, then waking up the day after that with a sore throat, sniffles, and achiness. It wouldn’t take a genius to piece together what happened. But you’d want to be sure, so you’d reach for that rapid test you wisely purchased last month after the news about Omicron first broke, knowing that the new variant would soon be on your doorstep.

“Santa Claus Murdabad”

Santa Claus effigies burnt in Agra on Christmas Eve

Effigies of Santa Claus were burnt in Agra on Friday, claiming the mythical figure to be part of a “strategy” by Christian missionaries to convert people.

The incident took place at the intersection of St John’s College on Mahatma Gandhi Marg on Christmas Eve. Members of the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal took out a procession carrying effigies of Saint Nicholas, more commonly known as Santa Claus.

These effigies were then set ablaze while activists raised slogans like “Santa Claus Murdabad”

Hindus hate Santa! Murdabad translates as “Death To”

Sweden, Gang Violence and a New Prime Minister

Sweden’s new Prime Minister, Social Democrat Magdalena Andersson, who previously served as finance minister, has a formidable task ahead of her: Dealing with the ever-growing gang violence and shootings in Swedish cities. Her predecessor, Stefan Löfven, notably failed even to contain the exponential growth in shootings during his seven-year tenure. Sweden’s parliament narrowly elected Andersson as Löfven’s successor in November, after Löfven announced his resignation in August.

“Sweden is a fantastic country, but we are facing a number of serious problems,” Andersson said. “I plan to lift every stone to break segregation and push back the violent crime which is plaguing Sweden…”

Sweden is facing much more than a “serious problem”. For years, Sweden has been breaking new criminal records, while refusing to talk openly about the link between migration and gang violence. This reticence may result from a combination of political correctness and Sweden’s fear of failing its own declared ambition of being the world’s “humanitarian superpower”. Already in 2019, leader of the opposition party Moderaterna, Ulf Kristersson, called the situation, “extreme for a country that is not at war”.

Interest in news plummets in 2021. Guess why

A lot of people began returning to work in 2021, though there are still many jobs waiting to be filled. That news might lead you to believe that business is booming, and that’s true in some sectors, but not all of them. One area where a slump worsened in 2021 as compared to the previous year was the news business. Traffic and revenue were down pretty much across the board for both newspapers and cable news outlets.
